Been a long time since I've been down to Sanibel...I could easily be convinced.

Glad that book finally arrived! I didn't know that I was in it, too.

You rock, Tiffbaby.

Did somebody say Brisbane Chapter?
I couldn't watch the local content go by without some input.

Local importer? SR's used to be from a Brisbane industrial estate from a guy who sold mostly cases and stuff. Times have changed (maybe).

Please let me know of any local events, forums etc. pls.

The CMC boys are fantastic!

It's a pity George is head of national sales now, it was fun whenever he came to Canberra and spent more time arguing about soccer than taking orders

They just got a new sales rep for ACT and NSW, the poor guy got my shop as one of his 1st visits, and walked away with some naughty pic's in his brief case, hope he didn't open it in front of anyone important

tkarter . .I'll take that as a compliment . . . I only just bought it last december from ebay and had it shipped over from the US. It has a fretless neck on it now btw.
And sounds just great.
I saw that colour (lavender pearl) in BP magazine once and lusted after it ever since. Everything comes . . . .
mind you if I lived in Toowoomba I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for BP (other variety) to return like Macarthur did.

If there is one thing I can tell you about our illustrious leader, it's this - never bet against him.

That Lavender Pearl is beautiful. One of the local forum guys (local to me, that is) had a LP SR5 not long ago and it was really fab in person.

I do think you're going to fit in just fine here. We have lots of Aussie Love around these parts.

oh i can feel the love . .lol . . ah the lav pearl with a white scratch and pup . .I love that combination but my SR5 has black pup and knobs so I'll stick with my speckled scratch. The guy I bought it from sent me 2 matching picks too .. there's service for ya.
And Dan at EB was most helpful, in fact exceptionally so. I wonder if he has a handle in here?

Now that the Aussie’s are up, I’ve got a question for you. I did a tour in Australia with the Bellamy Brothers several years a go. The brothers are a country music act and they wear hats, in fact most of us in the band wore hats. Hats seem to be required in country music; of course I was wearing a French beret, I was going after the “jazz prick” vibe.

From what I observed, wearing a hat in many establishments in Australia can get you an ass whipp’n. We played a couple RSL venues and there was total shock when the curtain came up and the hats were seen. The promoter had a special clause in the contract to allow the wearing of hats at our shows. (I only know this from overhearing a heated exchange between the promoter and one of the RSL officials.)

We truly meant no disrespect, but this has always struck me as a little odd and these must be a reason for this dress code. Any of you want to clue me in? For the record I don’t wear hats anymore, at almost 50 and still having all my hair… well, that’s about all I’ve got going for me…

“No worries”:D

I meant that as a compliment. Not many lavender pearl SR5s around.

Kansas must be somewhat like Toowoomba. We don't see too many of the big acts around here either.

Chuck. the RSL is a club for the Retired Service League (ex military) and at certain times of the day they stop for a minute silence to remember the fallen. As that generation is slowly passing a younger crowd is emerging in these venues but the strict rules and tradition are adhered too. I've played in some over the years and I could understand your predicament. I could assume they eventually would have realised you meant no disrespect. I can even see a funny side, good story to tell maybe?

yeah the hat thing is a respect thing. most of us dont wear hats, unless ure from the country like you said, then you wear massive akubra style hats. because toowoomba is the nearest city alot of bumbkins come into town as a thrilling treat to shop etc. i tell you farmers wives spend up big. they are lovely, they just have awful dress sense.

Might be just a military thing, too, Chuck. I know in certain Navy establishments (like all of them), anyone who enters and does not remove the headgear, be it military issue or baseball cap or jazz-prick beret, buys the bar a round. Don't ask me why, but that's the rule...or at least it was back in the pre-Cambrian period.

I'm also concerned along with his hat, did he just have the y-fronts and cowboy boots on as well?
