im a little new to this get together thing... who is all invited?

Good question.

Basically, Forumites/Knuckleheads in good standing are invited. If it says "banned" under your name, you can still come but only if you have your name legally changed to Jerry Nigham. Legal documents are of course required upon entry.

As we get closer, there will be an actual sign-up list so that arrangements can be made for food, shelter and spare underwear for the older guys. Unlike years past, the list will not be sold to your hometown burglars and petty thieves.

It's generally been that way, I should say. If there are any changes this year, I shall stand by smartly and await my flogging.

Just in case it is "swingable" on our part, what would be the best place to fly into for us? All flight to Palm Springs seem to take about 19 hours once all connections are included. Is there somewhere more direct we could fly to? And then get a single internal flight, or a train or something? San Diego doesn't look too far away on a map and is much cheaper....

Give Ontario, CA a try its about a 45 minute drive from the desert. Also you could do LAX, which is about a 2 hour drive but would require you renting a car.

Ontario is probably the best bet, you can generally find pretty good deals into Ontario. But before you book, and this goes for all, give Palm Springs International Airport a shot. Many times you can find great deals directly into PS. And if thats the case it is hands down the **easiest** airport to check into. No crowds, no hassles, short lines....definitely worth and extra few $$. If you guys have any other specific PS or PS are questions feel free to ask.

Only problem with ONT is that there are fewer straight flights from any points of entry to the U.S. than something like LAX.

Well LAX is a huge airport so it will definitely have the most direct flights. But it could also be a pain as its a two hour drive and would invovle car rental. I will check to see if Fantasy Springs has any type of Shuttle service that goes to Ontario, I'm sure they have a free PSP airport shuttle.

Point taken. I guess if one is coming from overseas, it's better to get as close as you can to your eventual destination, making the ground transportation easier.

Personally, I have family in the area and have spent a lot of time in SoCal. So, I prefer to fly straight into LAX and drive 2 hours rather than wait for a connecting flight or take a chance on missing a connecting flight. Missing a connecting flight is not an option on the way home with work early Monday morning.

Hey all, Kevin is right. Try Palm Springs International Airport and Ontario first. You will find both much easier than LAX or SD. Usually you can connect to both from Phoenix, if that helps anyone out there. Also, Phatduckk, great picture. That is what I used to look like every Saturday night!
