SLO was historic. Dallas rocked the knot. There seems to be certain constants that run through these events though.

The 10 Commandments
1. Food – Knowledge of the restaurants, chefs and catering that can stand up to BP’s scrutiny.
2. World class golf……..BP’s other vice
3. Available venues for the Knucklehead Jam and BP’s All Stars.
4. Production for #3
5. Available backline for #3. Guitar center in town….??
6. Easily accessible by air
7. Fun and frolic for all attendees
8. Various levels of lodging choices near the events.
9. Reliable and available transportation for all events.
10. Someone able to put everything together that eliminates or minimizes the headaches for BP and the EBMM clan.

And my nominations are:
(in no particular order)

Pensacola, FL – obviously I have to nominate my home town. Sleepy beach town. Gig and party on the beach. Everything within walki…stumbling distance. Great vacation town. All above handled.

Biloxi, Mississippi. – Hard Rock Casino and Resort. Brand new facility. Vegas on the beach. Not familiar about the golf choices though.

SLO – I’m back in a heartbeat.

Chicago or Detroit would be fun. Ran in each for years. Lotsa action.

Vegas – Whatever happens in Vegas……..will probably end up spreading like wildfire on the internet.

Wherever it is, I'm there...

Detroit? Man, someone from outside Detroit suggesting my (most current) city? Wow! :D

10 Commandments?
1. Food.
Well, there is good food here. Poppa knows this himself, IIRC. I believe the Rattlesnake Club is a place he favors. Never been there myself. We do have our share of good places to eat, though. I just wish there were more.

Detroit's supposedly a BBQ town too. I've only had good BBQ in two places in the Metro Detroit area, though. Apparently, most of the good BBQ in town is done at the various churches around town (sold for fund raisers) and at private residences. There are few places that actually sell good BBQ on a daily basis. One is a place called Slows BBQ, which is okay, near the old Tiger Stadium. http://slowsbarbq.com/One was made by a guy nicknamed BBQ Bob. (http://www.bbqbobs.com/index.html) Man, the guy did these chees grits that were amazing. Beef tips, wings, ribs, etc. Apparently this guy goes and competes with his BBQ, and he's won a few prizes. He did the Super Bowl catering at this Microbrewery I frequent. (The beer there is outrageously good, IMHO, but their website is out of date. http://blacklotusbrewingco.com/home.html ). Anyway, BBQ Bob did a fantastic job on the food.

There are a number of supposedly good restaurants downtown. Seldom Blues (http://www.seldomblues.com/home.htm)is reportedly good, but I've never had the pleasure of trying it. It would seem like a good place to do an EBMM night--if we could rent it out. They have a stage there where live music is performed regularly. Sweet Georgia Brown is along the same lines. (http://www.sweetgb.com/) Don't know anything about whether or not those places could be rented out.

I mentioned Rattlesnake Club. They have venues for parties, apparently. The menu looks damn good. http://www.rattlesnakeclub.com/

I'm sure we could do a DFW-Hyatt type thing at some hotel and have it catered, of course, in some ballroom.

2. Golf:
Well, I don't know what would be involved in playing there (if it's even possible), but we do have the famed Oakland Hills, C.C., which has played host to the U.S. Amateur and Ryder Cup, and the U.S. Open We do also have Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club up in Grand Blanc where they have done the Buick Open. There's supposed to be good golf in this state, but I'm not really sure where BP can get a golf fix. He probably knows better than I.

3. Venues
Well, we can always to do the hotel or banquet hall type of thing, or we can try to find a place like Seldom Blues or Sweet Georgia Brown. Besides, there are a lot of venues where music can be done. These guys have several venues including one that can be used for concerts and accomodates 3000. They also have one venue near Comerica Park. http://www.bertsentertainment.com/

4. Production for 3?
Probably not a problem. Hey, it's Motown! :D

5. Backline?
We have several GCs in the Metro Detroit area. Maybe, if EBMM comes here, we can finally get MarkBass and more EBMMs into our stores. :p

6. Easily accessible by air?
Yeah. Pretty easy. We've had a Super Bowl and a MLB All-Star Game recently too. So, we can handle big events.

7. Fun and frolic?
Sure. We have casinos downtown. We have live music. We have Baker's Keyboard Lounge, which purports to be the oldest jazz club. We have just hanging out with each other. :D We have entertainment catering to prurient pursuits, some of which is across the river in Canada. :p

8. Various levels of lodgings?
Umm...I imagine so. I've never actually looked for a hotel/motel in Detroit proper. There's a Marriott at the Renaissance Center/GM HQ. There's a Courtyard across the street. I'm sure there are plenty of hotels. I just don't know about prices, etc.

9. Reliable and available transportation?
Well...don't know. I'm sure it could be arranged.

10. Someone able to put everything together that eliminates or minimizes the headaches for BP and the EBMM clan.
Hmm...I know people who plan events and might be able to help as resource persons, but they're busy with their day jobs. I don't think I'd be a good person to coordinate. I would certainly be happy to help out.

I'm still game to host one here in NC. Middle of the East Coast baby and we've got the facility, gear and the Dargie Bongo 5 HH as the house bass. :)

I agree if you can somehow try and make it east coast I think some more of us europeans may be able to come and line your pockets with our favourable exchange rates. I'll certainly try my best to make it this time.
