What's up PEOPLE!!!!!!! You know what TIME IT IS!?!?!?!?! It's time to F***ing ROCK!!!!!!!!! This was the first time I'gve seen this crazy dude perform in person, and it was pretty awesome. I dont usually listen all that much to the guy, but he can play that damn Fnenaneder like a monster  !!! Well let me start off with the opening band. It was some unknown band from the South Carribean somewhere, and I have no idea how they got to be on tour with this crazy Swede. They were ok, and played whole bunch of different stuff from very heavy metal typa stuff with Jamaican kind of feel to it and of course the singer had that typical accent, so it was pretty intereseting. Of course they did one cover of Bob Marley which was cool, but I have no idea which since I dont listen all that much to that guy as well, but the music is cool and chill and what not. The BEST part however was, that the BASSIST WAS PLAYING A BONGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it was Carbon Blue Pearl one, and it looked awesome in all the crazy lighting, almost like Petrucci's Mystic Dream. The band name was Orange Sky for your information.
Anyway, Malmstee was just his usual crazy a$$ self playing insane stuff and being all funny and kicking into the air and twirling his guitar around. Good showman, and he played a lot of classic stuff. I think he was also getting drunk as the time was passing by, and he almost broke his acustic guitar throwing it on the floor with the stand (lol). The show was just very cool and bringing the good side of the 80's back, at least music wise :) . The best part of the show was that he covered Deep Purple the song called Deamon's Eye and did a VERY good job playing Ritchie Blackmore's part OF COURSE.
Anyway, good show and I'm DAMN glad I had those ear plugs. I was supposed to meet up with MrHyde, but that didnt work out for some reason ehh man? Next time man next time! Did YOU bring those ear plugs??? lol :p :D
Later

Um, the connection is this: many people would like to hit Yngwie upside his head with something nice and solid like a Music Man guitar. However, nobody thinks it is worth the damage to the guitar.

And before anyone gets too vocal, I am a fan of his playing. ;)

And I've said this before...but his classical concerto DVD is well worth the money.

Can't say I'm much into his metal stuff though.

The concerto is a real compositional achievement. Many many layers.

This post probably should be in the general music section: But he did say the bass player was playing a Bongo.....

But I think that classical CD is great too. He is making a DVD of it.

Malmsteen is a good example of how an artisit can produce material you really like, but you may not like the personality of the artist. Some of the best artists have difficult personalities.

Still, anyone that goes around saying he is ging to "unleash the effing fury" if a person rubs him the wrong way is OK in my book...:)

GH,
The DVD is out now. $15
Very worth it. I love the cd but to see it performed takes it to another level completely.

I have to get that DVD. It would make a festive holiday backdrop to have playing. Does Malmsteen do any of his trademark high kicks during the performance?:D

Malmsteen's Uncle's Cousin's Brother's college roommate once played an EBMM in the Carribean.

>^..^<

P.S. - I Love Yngwie - he change my musical life - before that I thought AC/DC was killer guitar playing :D . (Easy - just kidding I Still Love AC/DC).

Actually he is not high kicking , he is kicking picks into the crowd. It is difficult to pick that up on the DVDs , at least it is on the G3 DVD.

I'll give the guy credit, he must have incredible hand eye co-oridination to play the guitar, kick the pick into the crowd, grab another pick and not miss a note.

hahahha, you people are funny :D . Well how about to make it good in this forum: what if that night Malmsteen DID play an EBMM?!?!?! It would probably have been and sounded 10 times better, but I dont know if anyone trying to play guitar would really want to see it get even better than that. It was a fun concert, but for myself I dont listen to him all that much, because he doesnt have that special "feeling" in his playing that I like. I prefer Steve Morse, Petrucci, and Ritchie Blackmore, Vinnie Moore. However he did have some nice parts where he used the delay to make it sound like an orchestra of stringed instruments.

Oh and yes he was doing a lot of kicks during the show and also the guitar twirling around his back. And Hookpuch, you are right with the kicking of the picks into the crowd. However during the show I think he missed a lot of notes, because he was just screwing around a lot, especially during one part where his hair got caught in the strap, and he was fixing it for like 2 minutes DURING the song lol.

No high kicks. Just some contorted face things.

And he towers over those japenese orchestra players and conductor like Godzilla.

Drat! Now I'm going to have to buy that Yngwie DVD.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, my first concert was Yngwie on the tour supporting his 1st album 'Rising Force'. (First YJM album.. I know he made records with Steeler and Alcatrazz before that.. in fact, I used to play some Steeler songs in a cover band in the 80's... "Hot on your Heels", "Cold Day In Hell" and "Serenade".)

Edit: I didn't play the Malmsteen leads.. another dude did.

If Yngwie played a Music Man, I'd pair him up with a S-S-S Albert Lee, but you'd probably have to put his name on it.. :D :D

I bought the Yngwie DVD a few days ago, and like Keith puts it, it's a great composition and performance. The best part is that you have this huge orchestra with all their sheet music in front of them and Yngwie without any! He memorized the entire concerto, and that is an achievement in itself.

There are the usual Yngwie moments which made me cringe (especially the overdose of up and down scale runs in a few songs, but they are quite less compared to his usual albums) but all in all a great performance.

Yngwie and EBMM guitars...hmmm I watched another dvd with Yngwie in it and he went ahead and proceeded to break a guitar on stage just for the heck of it

:)BEGIN RANT: How can a musician break an instrument that is his/her livelihood I'll never understand :END RANT:)

..no EBMM guitar should suffer that fate. Just my $0.02 :)

Hey Roubster guess what.....i forgot the F^cking earplugs......to tell u the truth i didnt had time for anything,i missed the train and had to wait till 7:30 for the next, then I got there just when orange sky was finishing their set, i wondered around for a while and had a few beers and ended up left side of the stage the cool thing is that this russian chick was hitting on me :D :D  ..and it was funny when everytime yngwie tried to throw his guitar he looked up and saw that the ceiling was very low and e was like awwww man.... lol
By the way i got my ticket autographed by yngwie :D and the guitar tech gave me one of his picks when i was outside waiting for the jerk to come out (yngwie.... yes he is still a jerk...). The band was awesome they were hanging around outside taking pics, chatting, signing stuff.....awesome guys

Yngwie could always and still can play awesome stuff. I will never doubt that and always give him that credit. He does have great stage presence and likes to have fun on stage.

To answer someone's question - Rock stars break guitars because they are endorsed (usually) and have a bunch more sitting in the wings to replace it. I would (if I was a rock star) would find a kid in the audience and give it to him to try and motivate the next guitar hero.....but that's me.......then again, I'm no rock star.

So he got his hair stuck in a strap? Heheheheh....he got his hair stuck in my hands once.....;)

MrHyde - Yngwie still a jerk.....no!?!?!? That can't be true.....

Overall, the important thing is this. He played for the peeps that paid. Can't take that from him either. I personally love his classical playing as very few people can play those pieces as well as he can......the best quote I have read from him is "play some classical runs instead of scales, you will get the exercise associated with scales, but also learn a great song"....I couldn't disagree with that.
