Who said basswood did not look good? Nice grain there!

I do wood working as a hobby and some carving. Basswood is usually the wood of choice for carving. Basically it is like looking at vanilla. Just cream color with very light colored grain that blends in so it is hardly noticed. The roasting process must bring out the grain, cause it sure is awesome on that Bongo!!!!

Well, it's R&D according to the boss, but yeah - a fiver would definitely have my undivided attention.

Yeah, maybe roast it and then put a bright color coat on it. Like an M&M. Chocolaty goodness inside. We'll keep us nuts on the outside. :) :D

Can we please see the headstock!?
That is a nice piece of…wood!

I'm guessing it would be the same as the first Roasted, and I'm in for a 5 banger HS, based solely on how good the first series is, and that for some reason the Roasted neck gloss finish is the smoothest, drag free gloss I've ever had the pleasure to play.

Since we are sharing Roasted Bongo headstocks, here is mine from 1 of the only 2 I believe made Bongo 4H's.

R&D with two pups?

Remember that the 2 pickup Bongos were first to hit the stores because everyone was drooling over a dual pickup MusicMan bass being made again, so I wouldn't say it's unlikely.

Sterling said he should have showed/made the single pickup Bongos first because they got lost in all the hoopla around the dual pickup models.

But well-deserved hoopla, I say!

I didn't know the dual pickup models were made first. You learn something new every day. I kind of like the fact though that the single H Bongos are a rare breed. It makes them all the more special. I know the one I have that is pictured above is my favorite. That bass just has something to it that I cannot describe. Mojo, soul, character. Whatever it is, it's a special bass.

An observation for what it's worth (which is nothing... hey, waddayawant for free?):

The previous Coolest Finish Ever on a Bongo was this:

BiffMahoganyBongo2.jpg

That finish made it into production, but not on a Bongo... it was the 30th SR.

If history is to be trusted, what you see show up on protos generally doesn't show up as a product.

However, BP is the King, and it's good to be the king.
