I got done with work a little bit early today. Since I was in San Jose,Ca I decided to stop by the Guitar Center in Santa Clara. There it was a blue Sterling 5 rosewood with HS configuration. That thing sounds great. It has its own vibe as far as tone goes(not a SR5 clone). With the rear H only it has a thick focused tone. Then I flipped the pickup selector to the middle HS position. The sound got huge with bottom end and some top end zing. Then there are the other settings too. Each has its own vibe. All very usable for different music styles. I now understand why Sterling 5 owners are going crazy for these basses. EBMM definitely has done it again. I was thinking of getting a SR5 down the line. Now I'm not too sure anymore. :D

Then my wife textd me telling me the check engine light was on in her car. So its safe to say I won't be buying one for awhile.

If your wife filled up gas today (Not the kinda GAS you filled up) she probably didn't close the little lock thing for the gas pump thingy to go into (brain is fried, can't think of proper car terminology) all the way tight. That's why the check engine light comes on most of the time.

That said, I love the Sterling 5. It feels MUCH more comfortable to me than the Stingray 5, personally, in terms of body shape. The feel/sound was really excellent. I think between ST5 and Bongo 6 I might need to learn to cope with 17.5mm string spacing.

The one I played was a black & maple HH in Hollywood... great tones in it... but all in all I think I would have PLENTY of fun with just a single H. It's how I first met MM basses, and it's pretty much my fav config for all of them now.

Look at the bass in my avatar! (lol) That one is sitting in my guitar rack with my other 4 Sterlings. First one off the line in that color according to the folks at Bass Central. They are awsome players!
