Mike Porcaro's bass work is stellar!
Billy Greer from Streets/Kansas/Seventh Key
Muzz Skillings from Living Colour

just a few of my "unsung bass heroes"...

Paul Denman was the reason I wanted a MM!
Stefan Lessard
Pino Palladino

+1 (or +3)...

Obviously I don't think anyone is "unsung" to us here but perhaps to the general music public. Someone mentioned Muzz Skillings...He was awesome! What ever happened to him? Maxwell's stuff has some killer bass lines and I can't even remember who played on them. Gospel artist Fred Hammond slaps the bass rather well...

Dave Hope of Kansas was excellent and really never gets mentioned. Love his playing. Mike Porcaro would be high on the list for me. Master of groove. Can't believe he has ALS.

I think Michael Anthony of Chickenfoot and formerly of Van Halen is also another one that comes to mind that plays Music Man basses. I also like the style of playing that he does too. Nothing to fancy in some of the Van Halen songs but he is a very solid bass player.
