Why not?

Are you questioning the fact that it's fretless or the fact that it has lines?

I'm assuming you're questioning the lines, since fretless basses are not particularly controversial.

Some of the best bassists in the world play lined fretless basses. TL comes to mind.

I've seen purist arguments against lines, but IMHO it's silly. Kind of like asking a race car driver to choose shift points based on the sound of the engine, rather than providing a tachometer.

Purists who think lines are for wimps should also dispense with dots on the side of the neck. If a positioning reference in the form of a line that tells you where to put your finger is unacceptable, then a positioning reference in the form of a dot on the side of the neck should likewise be unacceptable, no?

It's silly but it sure gets a rise out of some ppl doesn't it?

Relax AD. My short post was in jest. Sometimes omitting the emoticon makes for interesting banter.

As long as we're on the subject of lines, I prefer an unlined fretless. Not a 'Purist', per say...just like the looks of a clean FB.

Especially pau ferro and ebony boards!

Nooo wayyyy. I posted it so you all can save me from myself. Now let's see a little action, a hint of gratitude, fewer "if only"s, and that final post from one of you screaming "MINE!!!".

I'm sitting here punching the 'refresh' button, and I will not eat drink smoke snort bugger or see daylight until a punch on the 'refresh' brings up that "Mine!!!" posting from one of you.

I wish I'd known about this one before the Trans Teal SR4 fretless purchase. Oh well...she's still a nice, heavy bass.
