Well, I wanted to post pictures of Kari Byron (of Mythbusters fame) in silver body paint, which would have made the point that silver is a great idea much more clearly....

but this is a family show.

So this will have to do.

Yeah lets paint the highly figured maple tops silver! You guys wonder why we call you Knuckleheads

When I first joined, I went on and on about figured tops. I was on the hunt for the perfect 20th, I questioned why customs with figured tops weren't an option, yata yata. But then I regained an appreciation for mouth watering painted finishes - Pacific Blue Burst, Blue Dawn, and now Orange Firemist being among my personal favorites. But make no mistake, I still love a highly figured piece of wood, and I'm SO excited about this 25th featuring a highly figured top. And it's such a cool coincidence that out of all the EBMM instruments featuring sucky tops, the Axis is the one that I've always "secretly" considered to be the best & coolest looking. So needless to say, I'm pumped about this bass, and while I'll be very glad to see the production model in Sterling Silver and many other fine painted finishes, I for one say no sir, please don't paint over that gorgeous highly figured top on the 25th!

BP, from just noodling on the prototypes what's your favourite pickup configuration so far?

This just gets better and better! The idea of an HSS is really cool.

Probably too early to ask this - but is it likely to be offered as a fretless??

(PS I've noticed pics of protos with 2006, 2007 and Dargie necks so far in this thread - or was the black one a radiance red?? Anyway, these bass necks are being used in a very good cause IMO - the latest proto pics look great).

SSS all the way for me... it might not have the versatility of the HSS but it will be a unique setup for sure. Can't wait to see/hear/play one! :D

Sorry everyone, I have been away for 4 days in Spain, been very busy and had no time to read the forum, since I left this thread has a 100 more reply and I had asked BP what would be the name of the new bass if there is one already, anyone knows this?

I am keen to know what the name of this bass will be.

Thanks

You haven't missed any news on the naming front. It hasn't been released yet. I expect that we're going to have to wait for NAMM for it.

I didn't demand, I just thought you guys had already thought about a name and I figured I might have missed it in the zillion posts above while I was away in Espana

p.s.: what is the entitlement zone? I am a very polite man, you shouldn't get cranky ;)
