I'm right here. My company hosted a party tonight along with Twitter and Current TV and I just got home.
On to the bass: I honestly don't know any more than Jack does.
All joking aside BP clued me in regarding the 25th anniv bass today. I'm floored! Personally I couldn't be any more stoked. Like, very, very excited.
I can't and won't divulge any details but I will say the following: I saw pictures and got really excited & happy, so happy that I skipped over the words in the email & totally missed a particularly amazing detail. Again, that got me so worked up that I didn't see the other exceptionally rad details in the message till a few minutes later upon a re-read. And again - there was more info there that my excitement caused me to glance over.
It's a really dope bass. There's a lot of cool stuff involved... but, really, what else did you guys expect from this awesome team?

Honestly, it means a lot that BP trusts me with info ("secrets" if you will) and there's no way I would ever betray that trust. I'm sure everyone understands and would do the same
...but i fully expect to get teased and prodded

Too cool, this is very exciting. It's great to even have this early visibility into the project/bass, so I won't moan too much about not knowing more yet (though I'll admit it pains me as much as the next knuck to know those drawings are floating around!). It's also great to see BP's very genuine excitement, obviously having alot of fun!
You know, looking back at the pics again just now, it appears to me that if it's not just the lighting, or a very unusually dark and uniform piece of Rosewood ... that's an Ebony board on that proto. hmmmmm ...
As a 50/50 slapper/fingerstyle player, I'm wondering how the slapping is with this pickup arrangement. At first glance, I thought "that neck pup is right where I usually pop". But thinking about it & also playing around on my bass while "pretending" there's a pickup there, I can actually imagine that you could very comfortably sort of "anchor" your popping finger right up against the inside edge of that pickup ... just sorta use it as a "target" for the first knuckle of the index finger, if that makes sense.
Can't wait to check it out!

That proto was not ebony it was a material called apaper wood that is a wood product that is green...un fortunately it sounds green.

I am taking this 25th anniversary as a very serious statement. 25 years...You can count on one hand companies that have lasted 25 years making guitars and basses in America. It is very special to the team. WE are trykng to create something that is unique while still recognizing important design milestones and adding some twists for the first time, It is a total blast but a lot of work and false starts.
Why Jack and Phatty first? The biggest reason is that I respect thier opinion and also want them to be part of the process as they give of themselves here and deserve a perk or two. It was very well recieved by both and Im getting pumped.

I've seen ads for companies building guitars with eco-friendly wood and I am hesitant to try them for that exact reason "...un fortunately it sounds green." I'm sure other people are hung up the same way I am, so kudos to you for trying something different, even if it didn't work out the way you wanted!

Seriously though, I'm really gratefull to BP and the crew for continuing to give us previews of what's happening with the development of new products and I think it's great that you're continuing to look at sustainable developments for the construction of the instruments.

And that is the reason why I am no longer a supporting member. too much whining from too much people typing and not a lot of playing. Some of those guys write stories about frequencies and other crap that is non important. Some people have too much time on their hands. These forums are no BS and fun. I am happy to be a part of the famiglia

It's fantastic to have a company that really cares to involve its loyal fan base so much in new product development.
Now about TalkBass, I'm always happy to point out the virtues of EBMM instruments in postings over there. As far as it being a "reliable source of information," I've learned a few things about different amp and speaker voicings that's saved me trips to showrooms, and occasionally bought some gear, but .. yep, it tends to be a "All 7ender, All The Time" show over there. I just stay out of he "Basses" forum unless I see a pre-purchase question I can readily answer.
