Believe it or not, I know the answer to this: Bill Harkleroad is his real name and he's a guitar teacher in Eugene, Oregon. He also managed a record shop but I'm not sure he still does that.

Bill is quite the legend in Eugene for those of us who are "of age." Personally, I was more into Zappa ("and the doggy wee wee is blinding me") than Capt Beefheart, but they certainly had an affect on music. Unusual, but an affect none the less.

Sorry for the hi-jack, but it seems to be in the spirit of this thread.

Hi BP,

Why is the bridge pickup at an angle in the SSS photo?

What is the result/difference in tone by having the pickup(s) tilted top forward, bottom forward or vertically straight?

Will there be options for pickup angles?

What is going to be the pickup selection switch settings for HSS?

I'm already dreaming of owning one :D

Thanks,
Ant

exactly.

if you look at a Music Man bridge you'll notice the the treble side anchor is closer to the neck than the bass side anchor as this has a kooky and I'm guessing highly unaccidental way of keeping the saddles snug together.

(hey Jack, unaccidental, noyce werd eh?)

I am sort of curious about the pick up placement on the HSS as compared to a HS now looks like the extra S is closer the neck does that mean the middle s is about where it is now...

Hmm does that all make sense?

I need sleep.

Near the neck :)

Ahhh. interesting. What I noticed on my SR4 is that if I play very close to the neck with soft fingering I can achieve very close to a stand up bass kind of sound...saving bands the money of hiring a stand up bassist..since i can't play one of those to save my life.

as far as those questioning about a bridge pickup tilt...I only have seen that tilt on the protoype in the early post and that body is not being used..so we will have to wait and see if the SSS will have a tilt I reckon.

However tilting the pup closer to the bridge on the thinner strings will thin the tone..or increase the highs..however you wish to view it..hence why fender strats sound really bright and thin when using the bridge pup alone.

the 3 s bridge pickup will be tilted.......the humbucking ones will be in the stingray slot

Forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered somewhere in this 27pg thread. But has it been determined if the pickups (whether single coil or humbucker) will have ceramic or alnico magnets in them?
