Is it me or is the JP 16 (outside of the piezo) almost identical spec wise to the old JP models from an unnamed Japanese guitar maker? I can almost see the Picasso faces......

"J I think they're trying to get all players interested in this line. The only reason they have the JPX is to accommodate those who really want the slide switch. JP played it for a year to promote it and then they went back to the traditional 3 way toggle. The JP15 was designed to grab players who "needed" to have a maple neck. This seems to be an attempt to grab a different demographic. I guess you really can't improve on perfection all the time...so, sometimes make drastic changes to get other customers to buy. I wonder if we'll see a JPstrat version in the future. Think about it though, only 4 years until the JPXX ...I'm guessing next year will be the 8 string."

No piezo, no coil split, 1000 series bridge, no locking tuners (for quick string change), back to the "wedge" armrest vs the tapered... Keeping the illuminators and the 17" radius (which is the best I've felt yet of the 3 versions).
Can't wait to see the video of JP explaining this one!

My thoughts exactly. I love my JPM (thus the avatar)! But the Music Man bridge can't be beat. I would have thought they would have created their own "Floyd" style bridge, or added fine tuners or whatever.
I'm curious where the piezo control scheme is. Also, why push/push tone control? Then again, I'm a guy who never uses the tone knob, let alone needs two different caps to choose from lol.
No piezo. Its a floyd so no piezo. If you do a piezo on a floyd, you need to get the graphtech floyd.

but no original FR? 1000 series is made in Korea and for sure not that reliable...
just the 1000 series ? I assume will be cheaper the JP16 !?
What's wrong with Korean products? They make great stuff. I used a Korean original floyd and found it to be pretty much the same as the german one. A lower price point would be great for sure though. I love how they offer the pearl blue piezoless jp6 for an affordable price.

The german made floyd is known for been the best. Ive had an original for 16 years now and its still perfect

I'm so happy to see such a dramatic update to the website! These guitars now have such an incredible platform to be showcased and discovered by all! The look and feel of the website definitely brings a breath of fresh air to all of their products. What an exciting time to be part of the EBMM Family!

it is not close to the ibanez thank you (the comment is one that keeps me away)
it has a scoop because jp wanted one on the 15 shape....
It has a floyd because jp wanted a Floyd the 1000 is the one jp wanted
if you dont want a floyd it isnt for you..but if you have wanted a ebmm jp with a floyd then this is for you
remember we didnt take anything away....we just gave consumers another choice, and JP a guitar he desired.

I never felt JP were the right guitar for me and this one sure won't help.
BUT I just admire how many different JP models EBMM offers. This one is, again, very different from the previous versions.
If the JP 16 features don't suit you...Stop complaining. Just don't buy it. I won't. This is a John Petrucci model designed for and with John Petrucci...and we are not John Petrucci.
From a players standpoint this addition to the JP line is a godsend, the MM bridge is PERFECT and THE BEST, but sometimes you just want the liquid feel of the floyd.
the JP6 is the perfect guitar for everyone, who don't rely on a floyd for their sound and technique, but guys who play satriani/vai/dimebag/van halen stuff will find that they want a floyd most of the times.
other than what stated above, the floyd gives a very different sound, which to me always brings back memories of Extreme/Van Halen/Vinnie moore/dimebag, it sounds more scooped to me most of the times and coupled with a maple (ebony is almost the same) neck its THE sound for 80s rock/metal.
Remember that if JP were a one sound guy type of player, he would have stuck with his Ibanez JPM. luckily he isn't and helped design, what I believe to be the best guitar ever put out by any company, the JP6 that is and then helped design the Majesty, which is even above the JP6 for me.
the Floyd JP will grow on you and will make sense soundwise and playwise in a few weeks/months.

Warg, I played it (very comfortable with the scoop) and there is no piezo. It must be a copy error from one of the other JP models used to populate the page data.

Yes, it is made for me!!!!
Reminds me a lot on the Black Sugar run, which I love.
And I never felt, that it looks like an old ibz guitar...it is an EBMM all the way.
A Floyd is great for some play-action, the original up trem is fine, but nothing beats a Floyd in tuning stability.
And the scoop is great!!! This is one of the tiny little things, why I prefer the original JP over any followed up models.

To be honest I like the feel of a floyd rose. It's really a solid bridge.
