hey !

I deleted my old topic to group all my videos here. I will post the new ones only to not overload the forum with my stuff...

it was only yesterday ( Larry Carlton )

a song that I love but I don't usually play. I produced the backtrack for a duet with an other guy and it never happened. so I made it for me... not rehearsed, it was fully improvised. loved doing it on the HSS.

cause we've ended as lovers ( stevie wonder )

it's one of the songs that I love to play every day. with time, I started to find things that I kept and the solo is almost a written thing. of course I love to jump from the score I have in my head to make something fully improvised but I wanted to record the written one.

I started with the HSS but on the same position ( bridge ) the HH sounded warmer. I don't know if it is because of the full rosewood neck as the body is made of the same woods, but the difference between the two guitars is a nice thing...

Very nice guitars, tone, and playing! Thanks for posting.

I'm very fortunate to own a L3 HSS as well.

As you own both HH & HSS Luke 3s, I'm interested in your perspective on the pickup tone differences between the two guitars if you wouldn't mind sharing.

both guitars have its own sound. it comes from the wood first. I had a couple of luke II in the past and they sounded different, so comparing an HH with full rosewood neck and an HSS with roasted maple neck is comparing two totally different guitars. design is the same, but it's really two distinctive sounds.

the bridge pickup is a good point to compare the sound, as it is the same on both guitars.

it sounds warmer on the HH, has more sparkle on the HSS.

now I would be curious to play single coils on an olive gold, neck humbucker on a roasted maple neck, and the list of possibilities goes on if you ad maple top on BFR's...

if you go for an HH, try to get something different from your HSS in terms of woods. full rosewood neck, maple fingerboard or maple top will make a big difference !

just made this video.

it was not planned but I had a bit of sun light in the room so...it's an old song called Roll from my second EP, released the year before I signed my first record deal with grooveyard records.

I'm more into ballads and slow blues these days ( middle age crisis ? ) , but I always had good feedbacks from the song and I wanted to record today...

I wanted to play it on the HSS but the HH sounds so warm...

one year ago I recorded a tune called "disconnected" that is my most accomplished work so far.

I decided to not release it in an album as the streaming websites are just transforming our work into freebies.
so if it has to be free, I'd prefer making a nice video of the song.

I always record videos in one take, but as I wanted to produce something as good as the original song, I'll record separate parts to mix it as clean as possible.

this is just the solo. fully improvised, it took me several takes to find the right balance.

it had to start calm and slow, then getting funky and finally mad.

this is just the guitar alone...

nice to see you back from the dark side.;)

Cos we've ended as lovers is one of my all time favs played by Jeff Beck in his "proper" guitar playing days lol

Did you know that the song was originaly written by stevie wonder ?

For the rest, the dark side was not that bad. But freedom is the key. I love playing guitars just because I love it !
