can the vintage 2 band StingRay preamp run safely with two 9 volt batteries? According to the specs the LM4250 chip can run between 1 and 18 volts. would I risk damaging the preamp? the chip is new
I guess I'm gonna go for it. those opamps are cheap anyway. if it blows I'll just buy 10 more of them. gotta hack out 3/4" of wood to fit the other battery![]()

before you damage the bass in the spirit of incresaed headroom why dont you just tape the extra battery and see f you like the sould better....

I already tried it out and I was correct, there is a faster response. since there is no gain control on the preamp it also got louder. now all my basses have 18 volts![]()
