The Silo SPecial needs love too.

I was thinking

Silo Special, VIntage pickups
White or vintage white with MINT guard
AL neck
Roasted maple, rose wood.

THink JIMI HENDRIX!!! that would be quite unique, I would buy one, give the vintage strats a run.

MY two cents

When Smelly wakes up in a few hours he is going to get a head spin reading this thread.

One combo I would love to see would be a Silo Special with Mahogany neck- so finished- and ebony board, kinda like the JP BFR but in a silo special!

I'd be interested in something like that.

Don't have the money, but just for fun i'd suggest a Luke in Radiance Red with the original Martini inlays. Radiance red could be called 'Martini Gold Flake Red' instead:p

if a guitar was made that had
7 strings
22 frets
27.0" scale

it would be one of a kind in the world, as far as i know (and i know fairly far). on this note if anyone can contradict this you have to tell me!

i think if eb made a guitar with those 3 things id buy it, even if i had to ignore countless other specs that i would prefer for it not to include, those 3 specs are my dream, in its most simplistic and variable form

so building on that, there are multiple options.

7 string axis with extended scale?
7 string luke with extended scale? - much less realistic since there arent really 7 string equivalents of luke's pickups

7 string silo special, morse, y2d, al, 25th?

id buy any of these

does this appeal to anyone else at all?

Silhouette Run of 50

Here is my 2 cents:
- The Silhouette is an under rated guitar and could use a boost.
- This configuration should appeal to EBMM as it would be a slight departure from stock.
- 50 people as minimum for a production run might be possible because it would not be too flashy and would appeal to a wider range of players that don't buy into the signature lines, but want the best darn guitar out there.
- Guitar = Silhouette full horn body (not the Special with the smaller horns)
- Pickups = Same Black HSH configuration with/Piezo
- Bridge = Vintage Trem
- Neck = Solid rosewood neck and board
- Frets = 24 small dot inlays w/BFR crest on 12th
- Fret wire = same as on the JP6 or medium jumbo stainless steel
- Colour = Black sparkle gloss w/small flakes for the shine but not the glam
- Pickguard = Black or black pearloid
- Price = Regular dealer price plus a 5% premium for making this happen

If there are 50 votes for this and Surrey / Vancouver BC Canada is included, then I will get out my credit card and sign up.

Why not an AL? Well, I'm waiting on placing an order for a new AL HH tobacco burst with black pickguard and all rosewood neck. This will be a serious blues / rock machine.

A JPX with a rosewood neck. Maybe black limba JP or Luke with a natural wood finish? An even crazier 27 frets on top of all that would truly give it a limited edition feel.

Good golly miss molly!!!!

Well,

That'll be the downside in going to sleep!! - I can see why BP doesn't now!! - I have to confess I almost threw up when I saw the responses to this, not the fact that there were so many, it was just along the lines of - what have I done, I've created a monster!!!

I see phil has started a poll for body types, I purposely didn't put one up as most of you agree to disagree on strings let alone what's the best shape, - Phil it's a good idea, don't get me wrong but I think we've a way to go - But this will work - HAVE FAITH!

Some of you have asked what I want, I purposely didn't put my thoughts down to see what would float your boat, and apart from the BP AL, i didn't have a - dream spec to go - some of the input from you guys has got my juices on the go, and at the risk of loosing some of you - if it were down to me (and it's not entirely!) I'm very keen to see

BP's HSS AL - that's gotta be worth a look - I think that'd be pretty cool - and you'd never see another???

Glen' - I've come so close to getting a sparkle so many times, and the amount of buzz around here is always high when we talk sparkle, so again is smelly land I'd like a sparkle too

The silo Spec with all rosewood sounds interesting too -

Rob liked the idea of spalted maple, but it's a select audience, and some find it to look sick wood, so not sure we'd get the take.

so if we could kick the ball off again (no punn intended(- including what I like - is there anyone who'd buy into that?? - if not we need to change the format to suit a wider audience....

If we said silo spec or an AL with unique finish/neck/pickup combo -who'd bite???

If we can get maybe 5 variations from this I'd then put a poll up as to who'd prefer what and look for 50+ names, - I would love a limited edition graphic, something for you all to show off your tattoo like the LE's and 1st DARGIE too....

You're all doing really well let's keep this going! - Smelly loves you all!!!!:D

I can't commit to anything, but would very interested in anything that said, "Knucklehead Special" on the headstock. :p I've seen this done on the Martin forum where they have had group buys for forum members.

I still think a swamp ash JP with a solid maple neck would be massively cool... Throwing a solid rosewood neck at it wouldn't hurt either.
A swamp ash Gold Roller with 25th PUs, a trem and a solid rosewood neck wouldn't be half-bad either...

Time for the killer. Basses??? I like the idea and it has been brought up before. But, us fat string guys will want in. The only body design that could be agreed upon would be the AL. We have to all agree right? Then comes the killer. Pups and all that. Again, I like the idea, but, it will be hard to agree as basses are different and the options there are increases10 fold. I will now sit back and eat popcorn and watch this unfold. The closest we knicks ever came was the initialrun of the Dargies. Good luck and pass the butter.

Smelly, I took the poll down. Its way too big a task and I think BP as well as half the people here know that its gonna be damn near impossible to get 50 people to agree on one guitar. Anything's possible, but I have high doubts for this thing. Now if you were in contact with BP or something, and had a list/photos of a handful of one offs or protos that could be made in a small batch to order or something, I think that'd be a ton easier to come up with an agreement. Trust me, its gonna be hard to get 50 people to agree on one thing, let alone get 50 people to actually pony up the dough to get these things in this economy. I'm not trying to crap on anyone here, just stating my view of things.

ifwe're going to deal with this by the use of polls the polls would have to start very very broad and gradually get more specific.

kind of like the game 20 questions, but instead its 20 polls :)

perhaps try a poll entitled "which standard issue model would you most like to customize?" and see if theres an outstanding number in a specific model. then work our way down from there

Hey phil - yeah, thanks for taking it down, like I say good idea but we're not there yet - there's been people telling me i can't do stuff since I was 10 years old, I appreciate your concern, but I'm going to do it, and prove you all wrong, if nothing else it keeps me of eBay!!!

Lets see what the weekend brings in posts and maybe put a limited poll up monday - I think the the special touches, like a LE graphic etc, and the fact it's only forum members it's open to too - it's going to be pretty exclusive, and whilst we've been spoilt in the past with Dargie options of models, this will be 1 model, 1 finish, 1 amazing guitar, - Have faith man, there's a lot of people posting that they want this to happen, we can do it!!!

This is a great opportunity for you guys who didn't like small details about the JPX (like the color) to get something you DO want.

I'm interested, but like everyone has said, this needs to be an iterative process. Vote on shape, woods, hardware, etc

koa 25th sound yummie :]
but BP AL HSS... or Silo spec in some cool finish...

this is too hard to decide :] i guess BP knew that it is impossible to get 50 of us wanting the same thing. that is why he said he'll do it :D

or maybe some 20th anni type guitar in some special finish... that'd be great, but i don't know if possible
