I saw him last year in Chicago and he played everything at some point during the evening: bass, guitar, drums and keyboards. A three hour show and he played through the whole thing. He is a ironman for an old fart, and a heck of a showman. A memory to cherish for a lifetime, and definitely an inspiration.

During that concert he used a cherryburst les paul and a martin 12 string. I don't remember him using any MusicMan stuff, though.

What exactly does GAS mean? I imagine it's an insatiable thirst that cannot be quenched unless the one specific thing is attained.

Like, if I were to say I have GAS for a LH Albert Lee after watching the Sir Paul McCartney videos on YouTube, would that be appropriate? Would it also be proper to say that I have retired any want for a LH-JP6, and have replaced it with GAS for a LH-AL?

I've been watching some old footage of Robert Cray, and was curious if anyone could tell me if they can get a Robert Cray tone out of the 2nd position? (between bridge and middle pickups) I don't want to revert to a stupid F****r, and all ready have a Silhouette Special. I find that the Dimarzio pickups in the SS are a little too hot for the bluesy RC feel I want. I love the SS for rockin' blues all the way to metal, but for mellow blues, jazz and maybe a little country I think the Seymour Duncans would be a trip.

Any comments?
Yes it will give you that sound a la Robert Cray.
The sss pickups will be perfect for the kind of blues you want.
I will probably get another AL with MM90's on and then I'll be able to provide a comparison.

I have that whole concert on VHS somewhere. I'm sure I saw him using a 5 string MM bass in the video for Birthday that wings made for John Lennons 50th birthday. I think. Could be wrong.

A video for Paul McCartneys album called, "Off the Ground" also features his Ernie Ball including the noodling in the beginning. Pretty cool. I was watching an old VHS tape last night with some Paul shows on it from VH1 in 93 or 94 and I had the video on tape and noticed it.

I'm a HUGE McCartney fan, I guess that explains why I was watching a 13 year old VHS tape to be entertained. :p
