Welcome Beaver!!

Nice story - 4 of us from the BassPlayerMagazineForum had a meet-up a few years ago at Bass Central. We had the run of the place - I clearly remember making a Dingwall owner cry after playing a 'Ray thru a Bill Dickens set-up after he had played the Dinger thru same (yes I am evil) - anything we wanted to try was at our disposal, short of walking out the door with a piece of gear. Beaver had a goodie bag for each of us with CD's and shirts and various and sundry SWAG. He also managed to talk KC and Dave L. into putting on a mini-clinic... not so 'mini' really - it lasted for 30 minutes or so. Impressions? Dave + Bongo = the realization that (in hands more capable than mine) the Bongo is a formidable choice. Beaver was available the whole time for questions and tips and stories. A very good day with a very good guy and Staff.

...time for another road trip up North, methinks...

Bought my first EBMM from there. I see he has a blue dawn sterling on his site.
If it were an HS I could be in big trouble. I dare not call to see if he has one of those:rolleyes:

Leave it to Beaver! I haven't yet bought a bass from him, but I did by a Crest CA-9 for a kickass deal, and it's still the workhorse of my rig. Great to deal with. Golly, gee...thanks, Beev.

Remember Nick Beggs From Kajagoogoo?

How many of you are familiar with Nick Beggs from the British group, Kajagoogoo, who had several big hits in the 80's? He played a SR, possibly a pre-EB model.
Great bass parts.

Nick Beggs? Sure! He also played one of those English basses, of which I own one very temperamental and unreliable example, that also sounds really good.

Very good player, that Beggs fellow.

Good bassist from what I could tell Beaver.

I was watching an old re-run of VH1's Bands Reunited where they were
trying to reunite ABC. Only the singer and drummer showed up. Nick
was a friend of the singer so he filled in on bass . . using a trusty SR4
he did an excellent job . . I love those ABC bass parts too...

I probably would have liked these guys a lot better if the singer, Limahl, didn't sound just like my ex-wife when he sang.

Ritchie

P.S. He had feather duster hair. Still does, I think!

P.P.S. Beaver is gonna order me a Status bass when I get the cash together!!

Yeah, Nick is now playing with Kim Wilde as well as with other national acts. I recently saw clips from a huge concert which was simulcast thru-out Europe and there he was playing behind her.

VH1 also did a Bands Reunited Special with Kajagoogoo a few yrs ago. As before, out came the old SR4.

I believe Nick's also a staff writer for Bass Guitar Magazine (UK) and involved with a music school in England.

I have some recent stuff of his group's (Kajagoogoo) and the lines are still real creative...
