is it possible to replace the black knobs with chrome? Does EBMM have these that I could possibly purchase? I just really think the black ones cheapen that amazing quilt top, but maybe I'm crazy.

Guys what do YOU think?

EBMM might shed some light if these are available?

PS: This bass is SUPER light! I pick it up on Friday, so I will have to weigh, but seems sub 9 pounds!

Congrats John! The 25ths are really nice instruments. Chrome knobs could be cool, but I'd suggest reserving the final decision until after you see it in person. The stock hardware works quite nicely with the finish.... and chrome knobs might distract a viewer from enjoying the top.

Whichever ones you choose I hope you really enjoy it... I think you'll dig the HSS!

Thanks guys,

I have actually played the bass in person, as I found it locally. I pick up on Friday, so pics will soon follow.
@Matt: I know what you mean about detracting from the top, but I have to ask as I really am used to the chrome look/feel as well.

Don't forget the purple Caddy with faux fur seats and your nickel pistol with pearl grips... If you're gonna look like a pimp may as well go all out.

The only thing is there are 2 sets of stacked knobs like on the Bongo/Big Al. Not sure if the chromes are available in stacked.

Now I'm Really curious to know what it's look like with the chrome knobs!

@John: did you find the Maple boarded one you wanted? 5 or 4?

I don't care that material they are made of, I just want that silver look.

Well since EBMM doesn't make them in chrome, you are going to want to know what they are made of so that if you choose to have them chromed, you can have it done right. Aluminum is not impossible to chrome, but the process is a little more complicated.

I wasn't looking to chrome the knobs. I don't want to mess with the original, but change the knobs for asthetics. If I ever decide to sell, I want the originals just in case.

Just like getting a Bongo pickup cover in white, I'm thinking you are SOL when it comes to chrome, or silver, knobs that would work on a 25th Anniversary model bass. They don't currently produce an instrument that comes with chrome stacked knobs, so why would they have them available as replacements?

If you want them, you'll have to make them. Your best bet is to contact Customer Service through the normal channels to see if you can buy a set of the black knobs. Then, you can paint them. Or, find some other way to make them chrome-ish.

Well I just got off the phone with Scott, and I will have a set of black knobs sometime next week. Now I need to figure out the best spray paint to simulate shiney aluminum knobs. Suggestions?

I'm willing to bet you forget the chrome thing when you get it and start playing it, congrats on a killer bass and deal.
