i have an un modified peavey 5150, and a 1980's era marshall 1960A slant cab. As for styles, i play whatever interests me at the moment, be it metal, rock, jazz, country, blues, progressive, psychedelic, fusion, whatever.

I might be getting a really old 1969 Marshall Super Tremolo 100 watt for like 650$ if i can find a job soon hahaha. Electronically its the same as the plexi but has tremolo. Kinda rare, and Pete Townsend used to use them. From the research i have gathered it was actually him who suggested the tremolo effect but it didnt sell too well. Anyways, its pretty beat up cosmetically but sounds great, and comes with a Tom Sholtz power soak hahha. Anyways, if i get a job soon and get that amp, ill be playing through both the 5150 and the vintage Marshall ( ill try to score an original vintage cab if i can find a good deal) anyways... thats my bag o' tricks

God bless,

Tony

Dude, I just picked up a Flextone III and I love it. I've been messing around with it for a couple of weeks and I love the tones that are coming out of this thing.

I'd highly recommend a Flextone III to anybody looking for a great amp at a great price.

That's why I wanted to know who here is on Long Island and the NY area. I want to setup a jam/gear fest.
So if anyone wants to try something prior to buying it, they are more than welcome.
I just need your info, social security number, first born, and a contract signed.....LOL
Only kidding.
The offer is open to all my fellow EBMM lovers.

> I notice lots of the guys here are Line 6 users.

I'm a Line6 guy as well these days (PodXT). Much easier than lugging around all of my old amps.

Have you looked at the Line 6 Custom Tone page? (http://www.customtone.com) Good starting point for tone swapping.

I'm using the Line 6 Spider II amp at home for practice. The amp is great for the price, and has some killer tones in it. I'm thinking about buying a VOX AD50/60VT when I save up some money :)

Beej,

Yeah I spend way too much time at the Custom Tone site. I just thought maybe swapping some of our own tweaked tones here would be an idea.

How do you find the POD XT? I'm still on a Flex II but that's more than good enough for my needs.

Yeah, figured as much but thought I'd throw out the L6 site.

Personally, I'm really fond of the XT and it's way overkill for my needs. I sold off most of my rack gear years ago in favour the simpler life but as time passed I hated toting the big amps around. (Getting the Marshall 4x12 or the Super Reverb in the car is a bitch.) Nowadays I lean towards the plexi w/ screamer, phase and delay which the XT provides wonderfully. At home I play with it like crazy, but when playing live I stick to a handful of basic sounds. Sadly, I haven't spent enough time working on my own patches!

I probably would have looked at a Flex but had the chance to pick up the XT w/ shortboard at a good price so figured I couldn't lose (also I had a good keyboard amp lying around). If I were starting from scratch I'd probably look at the Flex- if you factor in the cost & weight of a poweramp/full range amp, the Flex would probably be more ideal.

I must admit I do love the Flex, but I still find I spend too much time tweaking it, and not enough time playing.

I don't know how the guys go with the Vetta & the Flex III they have way more options to choose from.

I have been eying up the new POD XT Live lately though. Maybe I'll keep my eye out on ebay to see if one of them turns up.

Amps

I use a Mesa Boogie Single with 2 Marshall 4X12 cabs and I have an Alesis Nano verb in the loop for a touch of reverb- Sounds pretty good-

Lately it's been a Peavey JSX and a Crate 4x12. And just today my PodXT Live arrived at my house.
I might be selling the JSX in favor of one of those Marshall 9200 power amps and a Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12 to go with the PodXT Live.
