Hey Tim, what happened to you with the Engl. Last time you posted about it (with clips) it was all positive...???

BTW I use an Axis into a Cornford Hurricane. Dark, warm, yummy! :D

Ah the Engl episode!

Well, it let me down on 4 gigs. Firstly nearly all the pre-amp valves went microphonic or bad on me. Chandlers to be fair changed a couple. The covering was tearing really badly for a 1 month old amp, it seemed badly applied or of poor quality, especially around the corners. The grille on the amp rattled reallly bad when playing at gig volume, and the fans at the back periodically would conk out. Then, the final straw was when the output transformer failed! It took 7 weeks for Engl to fix it, and when in came back it sounded really scratchy and not that nice. In the mean time I bought the Line6 and have never looked back.

Shame really, as it sounded awesome when in worked! I got the impression Chandlers got pissed off with Engl too. Al in the shop did all he could to keep me informed, so I cant fault them. Just my advice to eveyone who reads this, BUY AN ENGL AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Their customer support is zero. I attempted to order a spare foot switch lead on 4 seperate occasions with no luck.

Flogged it on ebay in the end for £700. Glad to see the back of it.

I use a vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb or a Tech21 Trademark 60... I also have a Trademark 10 for 'round the house noodling and practice, and a Roland Blues Cube BC60. I have owned Mesa stuff (including a Mark IIC+), other Fenders (including vintage BF Princeton, SFPR, SF Champ & Super Champ), Rivera, Marshall, Peavey - all kinds of stuff, and a very extensive rack gear setup, but in the end, a couple pedals and a good 1x12" combo is all I really need (or want to haul around!).

I've been through soooo many rigs, from stacks to stereo racks . . .

I'm getting simpler in my old age - I have a Mesa/Boogie Nomad 55 4x10 that I've had for 6 years - no effects - just get the tubes glowing and go. I found that the more electronic stuff I had, the less time I spent playing guitar and the more time I spent tweaking and building patches.

I just bought a house on 2.5 acres in the wilderness - 61 miles north of the urban sprawl I'm so sick of - I live off a dirt road off another dirt road and my driveway is 300 feet long. My nearest neighbor is over 1000 feet away. :D

Time to get another stack . . . :D

I wonder if Marshall still makes a good 50 tube head . . . I wish I could get another Mesa 50 Caliber head with a 4x12 w/ EVs like I had in the 1980's. That was incredible tone . . .

A single Mesa Mk III simul-class 1x12 Combo (green stripe). Had it since 1990. Other than catching fire earlier this year its never let me down. I'm so pleased with it that I dont consider buying other amplifiers.

An Orange RV50 half stack. Sounds most amazing with both my Axis and JP. Can't wait to someday play an AL through there!

And as for amps, I've been through a TON of them over the last 25 years. Nothing touches the Orange Rockerverb for me. Just sweet. :)

Althought I haven't recieved my JP6 yet, my setup is:

Mesa Boogie Mark IV Combo Widebody
Furman PL-Plus
Ernie Ball Volume
Cry Baby Wah
Boss Digital Delay
Boss Chorus
Boss Tuner

Pretty basic rig, though I have been contemplating picking up a TC Electronics effects processor and some sort of MIDI programmable Foot Controller, which would mean that I get rid of the Boss pedals.

I've also ordered the piezo with my JP6 and am thinking of adding a seperate Acoustic Combo amp to help differentiate the sounds between the DiMarzio's and the piezo. That also means adding a splitter box to the line, somewhere, which I'm fine with.

I'm using a Peavey 5150 combo - great amps. currently, I'm using an ancient Boss ME-5 which I still love as it does exactly what I want it to - great chorus, delay and digital distortion including noise gate and eq with (and this is the most important point) no modelling or any other crap. It is years out of date, but I haven't found a better board that suits me yet. With emphasis now on one box doing everything for you, I still prefer a basic pedalboard for rehearsals and gigs and my pod for recording. Mind you, the ME-5 has seen much better days - I think the rust is the only thing holding it together. Could be time for something new - I'm looking to see what you guys are using...

Alan,

You don't necessarily have to add the splitter box.. there are two separate output jacks provided on the guitar. You can run two mono cables out of the JP if you want.. one for mags and one for piezo.

That's what's great about the JP w/Piezo. You have so many options available depending how you utilize the output jacks. Well thought out, which is what we've come to expect from Music Man.

Just wondering what everyone here plays through.
I personally play through a ton of different amps that I've aquired over the years, but my main rig is still a rack.
Other than my rack I use:
Custom Audio/Suhr OD 100SE w/ matching 4x12 loaded w/ Mesa MC90's
Custom Audio/Suhr OD 50 w/ matching 4x12 loaded w/ Mesa MC90's
VHT Ultralead w/ EQ Matching 4x12
VHT CLX w/ EQ Matching 4x12
VHT CLX w/EQ 2x12 combo
VHT Classic w/ EQ 2x12 combo
VHT Super 30 w/ matching 1x12
Mesa Boogie Mark 4 shortie w/ 4x12 MC90's/EVM's
Mesa Boogie Mark 3(Red stripe) w/ 4x12 MC90's/EVM's
Mesa Boogie Mark 3 custom 1x12 combo, Flame maple wicker(blue stripe)
Mesa Boogie Studio 22 w/ 2x12 loaded w/ EVM's
THD Flexi 50 w 2x12 and hotplate
Groove Tubes Soul O 45 1x12 w/ matching 1x12
Marshall JCM 800 2210 w/ 1960B
Fender 75 head w/ Mesa 4x12 (MC90/EV)
And yes...A Crate V1512 combo :D
A few other rack setups. Mainly VHT based, and another with VHT and Engl E570.

Here's a quick shot of my main rack...too much to list...

Nice Eventide, which one is that?

I've got the best set-up of all:

I mic a Pignose through the local bar PA.

If anybody has any other ideas on racks I should add to my rig I would be very grateful. I play a range of music from metal to jazz, but my heart lies with progressive metal.

I use Two Marshall Studio 15's with a Keeley Modded TS-808 and an Analog Man Modded TS-9 and a Boss DD-3 echo.

I send the dry signal into one Studio 15 and out into an Avatar 2x12 cab with one Celestion G12h-30 and one G12m-70. I run the "wet" signal from the echo unit into the second studio 15 with a G12-h30 in the combo unit.

Also a Roland VG-8EX for a modeling amp/Guitar synth.
