Anyone have an Egnater Rebel 20? Thoughts on that particular amp?

I actually just tried one just this week. I was extremely impressed with this amp. At this point, I would make it an addition to my stuff, but that could be just my initial impression. I always like to give decisions like this some time. I'll go back, in a week or two, and try it again. I'll probably do that 3 or 4 times before I decide if I have to have it or not.

I used to get excited about amps when I first heard them, and make trades, or buy them immediately. I've found that it's better to wait. Sometimes what sounds great to me one day, sounds different another day. Sometimes I'll go back into the store, and the amp won't be working. If it can't survive a couple weeks in the store, it probably won't be reliable on the road. However, if an amp can survive a couple months in a GC, it's probably pretty roadworthy.

Thanks for the feedback on the Rebel 20. I do the same thing. Sometimes my wife will come with me to demo a guitar or amp and she is puzzled when I'm really excited or happy with something, then leave the store without it. Glad I'm not the only one who does this.

I liked what I heard but didn't get a chance to try it again. The shop I visited had a mother come in and just before I was going to try it again, she bought it as a christmas present for her son but left the cab! I was going to try the Rebel 30 combo but decided not to. Especially if I couldn't compare it to the 20 at the same time.

I don't NEED another amp right now but I definitely liked the sound of what I heard. Having no experience with this brand, and not knowing anyone that owned one, I can't say how well they'll hold up.

In my previous post I mentioned that primary rig is an Egnater Mod 50 with a 4x12 Egnater cab. I recently purchased the Rebel 30 head with two 1x12 cabs as a "B" rig. I tried the amp (along with the Rebel 20 and 30 combo) a few times to make sure I liked it. I can say that I have had zero problems with the Mod 50 and expect that I will have none with the Rebel 30.

I think of Bruce Egnater and his team as "the BP and EBMM of the amp world". Their quality control is top notch and service fantastic. (As an aside, roburado and I actually saw the Rebel 20's first prototypes when we visited the Egnater HQ to have my Mod 50 built. Even then, the Rebel 20 sounded sweet.)

And now with ONLY Planet Waves Custom Pro cables cause they are the shizzy. Makes the treble detail so much more evident than normal cables.

Champ Head

Just yesterday I finished building a Champ Head and am now using it whilst building a Hoffman PR amp. If you have an effects processor/pedals this is a nice little bedroom amp @ 6watts. Running it into my 2x12 cab.

BTW I built both cabinets from wood I found and picked up off the street during our city's spring cleanup.

this is my actual main rig. i´m using the preamps of the roadster and dual recto in a/b mode and go back to both poweramps for stereo.

at the moment i´m thinking about going back to a 19" racksystem with a mesa studio preamp + ada mp-1 into a peavey classic 50/50....
but have to try it first....

I'm assuming you have a recto and a roadster for sterio purposes only???

Well currently and sadly its just a Peavey Vypyr 30. I had an originak block letter 5150 from the mid nineties and loved the fire out of it. But I traded it for my EBMM Silo and dont regret it because its the best guitar I have ever owned but now I have a puny digital amp just to practice with. In the market for a stack again.

For home practice only - Roland Cube 30X set to JC120 clean channel, in conjunction with a Boss GT8 processor.

Soon to be this, since I'm buying it back from Chad. It used to be mine, then I traded it for a Mark V head, now its coming back home. (Sorry for using your pic, Chad. Haha.)

Just picked up a Roland AC-90 to add to my main rig to go along with the Mark V. This little guy sounds KILLER with the piezo in any of my JP's, and it really makes my Taylor 315ce sound incredible. Probably the most natural sounding acoustic amp I've ever had the pleasure of plugging a guitar into.
