I use 'Icepicks', they come in aluminum, stainless, brass, copper, excerta. Make tired strings sound newer to. GREAT on acoustics.

I don't use picks, although i'm learning to play with it, some songs sound just better when playing with a pick. I try to use Jim Dunlop 0.88mm

i use either Dunlop Stubby Triangle 3.0 mm or Dunlop Tortex Triangle .73 mm. depends on the mood I am in.

for playing fast punk rock you need a pick
although the stingray has an amazing bright sound
it sounds cooler with a pick!
