Not to be a bummer, nor to sound preachy, but the inlays are what kept me from ordering.
I was in for the greenrolleyes: ) in a big way, as well as the uniqueness and the forum aspects of the project. In fact, in its infancy, when the discussion was only taking place on the bass side, I would have thrown for a Bongo 4H and even talked to Pete about a quote. When guitars got involved it would have been a Silo Special.
After the rear signature graphic and then the inlays were announced, I sat on the fence. Due to my own personal and extended family history, I eventually decided it wasn't something I felt I should own.
I still think it is a great design, looks cool as hell, and is a great offering from Poppa and Dargie. And it gassed me enough to hunt down and purchase the last NOS envy green Silo Special in the US. But I just couldn't do it as a personal choice.
I'm sitting at home one balmy July Wisconsin night practicing my Stingray, and there's this knock on the door. I open it and, much to my surprise, it's Steve and Jack. "What the hell you guys doing in Wisconsin?" "Ah....we were just in the neighborhood and thought we'd drop by, yea, that's it, we were just in the neighborhood." "C'mon in for some beers and cheese, " I reply invitingly. "There's a Packer pre-season game on the tube in a few minutes." "Ah...no thanks" says Jack nervously. "In fact, get back in the damn house!," yells Steve. "What the..." I ask. Before I know it, I'm face down on the carpet, left arm twisted halfway up my backside, Steve and Jack both holding me down by their knees in WWF fashion. "You WILL order a Dargie Delight, WON'T you!" proclaims Jack. "An SR5 HS then, isn't it Mr. Packerguy?" says Steve. "The checkbook is in the kitchen", I struggle to get out." "Good....Good" Jack says. Before I knew it, I was the proud owner of an SR5 HS DD. I've come to accept that I will be receiving one in February. In fact, I've grown to even look forward to it. I guess I had it comin. Don't know if any of you had similar experiences.
Actually, for me it was uniqueness, sexifulness, greenness and EB Musicmanness.
I thought it was some kind of dessert.
Why didn't the dargie's come in a maple fretboard? They'd look so much better with the maple, the green goes so well with it.

Hmm.
Sucks.
