Copperhead bronze, autumn redburst/redrise, all of the various shades of pearl/metallic gold... man, EBMM has produced some stunning finishes over the years.

I suppose they sold poorly, which would go a long way toward explaining why nowdays you can choose two shades of black, two shades of white, two shades of gray, three shades of traditional sunburst....

That's pretty much what I was getting at. Any manufacturer who wants to make money is going to make more of what sold well in the past. Heinz is out!

So how cost prohibitive would it be to produce some of the historical finishes on a custom-order basis? I'd pay a substantial premium if I could order an autumn redrise or copperhead bronze Stingray. But I'm guessing that the hassle of mixing up the paint might be so great that you wouldn't want to do this at any price.

I have Trans Orange SR5 which I believe is now discontinued but it was a fairly popular color for quite a few years. My True Gold bongo might be considered pretty rare one day as that color was only available for just over a year I believe.

I think True Gold and Olive Gold as well as Medallian Gold will all be very coveted one day.

I love crazy colors for basses and EBMM does such a fantastic job of offering the most unique finishes.

That green is what I believe I was expecting with Heinz. (Yes, I knew what it was although I'd never seen one in real life.) Heinz turned out to be much yellower than that, which was equally disturbing for many of my friends and family. I still like that horrific green!

Teal Pearl was a stinker.
I understand.

I played this exact bass over the weekend and it flat-out KILLS -- and they're willing to deal on it, too! Trouble is, I simply was not feeling the color.

I keep telling myself that an abalone pickguard will bring it to life but I don't know.

Looks pretty close to Lake Placid Blue to me. White pearloid would make it pop.

I dunno, I think the Blue Dawn LE color is pretty unappealing.
My favorite color is the trans-crimson on the 30th Stringray.

The Sterling 5's in teal pearlescent - surprisingly a very bad seller.

I agree with you on the trans crimson - trans red's also pretty good. As you will guess I love blue dawn ;)
