Problem is that Fender is hit and miss. Never buy a new one.

Devnor said:Some of you guys should play my Streamer fretless. Perfectly balanced, nice *thin* neck and great tone. It looks fantastic (waxed flamed maple). The neck surface feels very similar to my Stingrays.I had the Streamer (LX, I think), and while it played and looked great, it was very limited in tone; best-suited for jazz (IMO).

I had my Bongo H and the Pro M at the same time and sold the Pro M to get another Bongo.I had the Streamer (LX, I think), and while it played and looked great, it was very limited in tone; best-suited for jazz (IMO).
Are EBMM's perfect... no. There are always small details that each of us would like to see that vary according to taste (I like unfinished neck backs, for instance) but EBMM is as close to perfect as you are going to get from a factory bass... what's more, they have something for everyone... Sterlings, Rays, Bongos, 1 pup, 2 pups, etc. If you can't find your tone, you're not looking very hard.
