I'm got lots & lots of pedals, but when playing out, I seem to like them all "off". I like an envelope filter now & then, but not often enough to carry one with me & use it.

Sansamp BDDI if using a solid state amp. Mic the amp when using tubes.
Boss Bass Overdrive for a few Cream songs. The Fulltone ChoralFlange once in a while when using the fretless. Most of the time no FX boxes.

I play guitar and bass both so I switch instruments in middle of the set all the time and all my guitar and bass effects were connected to both guitar and bass via AB switch at both ends. My favorite pedals for bass are Boss SYB-5 bass synthesizer pedal and Boss OC-3 octave pedal. SYB-5 creates very realistic various synthesizer bass tones and OC-3 will get your bass to sound so deep and low it will rattle the building
