why ppl stick boosters in de loop beats me, but i'm warming up to the BB Preamp...
So you can add volume for soloing without adding more gain. This way you don't push the preamp any more - you just boost the output signal.

i'm looking for a pedal to give my amp the kick in the sack it needs, it's got plenty of gain for most stuff, but for really heavy saturation, the pickups ain't enough.
which one would you get?
If the pickup output is the issue and not the tone itself, you might try a Seymour Duncan SFX01 pickup booster.
Personally, my favorite proper overdrive pedal is the Fulltone OCD. I also have a Digitech Bad Monkey, which is surprisingly good for the money.
Try out a ToneBone Hot British or Plexitube pedal; I don't think you'll need to look any further.
i think you'd be surprised to hear that my TBHB is up for sale for sucking out my bass.
I have read really good things about the Blackstar pedals. Havent tried em out, but worth taking a look at. I know what the amps sounds like especially the HT5 which is pased on the HT Pedals.

nope, havent. i do think that tonebones don't gel with amps to well.
