hope I'm not jumping in too late but I've been out of town for a bit gigging.

as for "new" models hitting Canada..... yep, you can feel safe and secure to order from us! and get an informed process while you're at it.

we've got a truck load of Dargies on order and are seriously eyeing up some of the BFR and 2007 LE choices.

so feel free to get a hold of me here @ the forum or through the store:

Act 1 Music

and if you live outside of BC then you've just beaten one tax! :D

Canadian EBMM

I have had varied success at L&M regrading EBMM. The guitar manager in my local L&M store talks them up and the Petrucci's and Axis' are almost pre sold. They seem to sell more when less is on stock. When they had lots of EBMM on display it seemed liked they trickled out the door. The last 5 or 6 pieces I have seen flew out the door, possibly due to perceived scarcity (?). The guitar guy locally likes to offer Silo's to people who are trying Strats. He has told me that some guys will buy a trash lid with strings if it says F(*&^r on it, so it is really pointless to offer a Silo. There are the other people though (like many in this forum!) that have that "less than satisfied" look on their face after trying the lastest new F%#$r, so he hands them a Silo when they are in stock. You can see the same thing very often - that "Wow! Is this ever nice" look where they just keep playing.

Anyway, I digress. When I am on the west coast at L&M, it's like most staff don't even know EBMM exist at L&M, except for basses. They bass guys always have and talk up Stingrays, but the guitar guys often seem oblivious. I am over 6 feet tall and I had to ask to use the mobile stairs to reach a gorgeous red burst ASS. All G&*)*n and F@$#r within reach.

I don't like to whine about L&M because they treat me great, and I believe they are very sincere in general about selling many product lines. My local guy is a really big fan of quality guitars and is as persistent as can reasonably be expected in ordering and stocking EBMM. I do find it is very hit and miss thoughout the country though. I think F&*^^r and G*&(^n are just low hanging fruit in the opinion of lazy sales people. I find that once people get the EBMM in their hands, they become converts. If more sales people who suggest them to us guitar players, their sales would inprove.

You may have to make sure you are speaking to the guitar dept manager to pre order. That is how my order for an amber quilt ASS was placed.

The guys in my local L&M say very favourable things about EBMM. Case in point...I was noodling away on a beautiful desert gold silhouette one day when one of the salesmen came over to me and said unprompted "that's the best playing guitar in the whole store".....which was saying a lot, given all the high end guitars they carry (including EBMM).

My only beef is that I wish they would order more.....I've had experiences where I would call them every week for months asking when the EBMM guitars were coming in, only to find out that a Pet, Silo and Axis had all come in since the last time I called and were now all sold....

I don't deal with L&M except to pick up magazines and the odd set of strings. There are a bunch of them in Canada. And I find they are hit and miss when it comes to the employees knowing about the products they sell.

That's why I love dealing with the smaller shops. Those folks know what they are talking about when it comes to the products they sell. Plus, you get to know them and they get to know you. You can stop buy and spend some time talking shop. It just ends up being a better experience.

When I was a salesman at L&M, I tried to push the EBMM guitars pretty hard. There were only a couple in stock at the time that I started, but I pushed enough, that I could order a small amount of stock.

The problem is that regardless of how much I would push them, not everyone did, and they just didnt sell very fast. It's really too bad, because everyone knew how great they were, just when someone wants a LP, they want a LP.

So a year later, and all but 1 of the ones I ordered sold, a nice Silo Lava Pearl with piezo and white ice pickguard... It's gorgeous.. somebody find it a home?

Where is THe Arts?

the only good dealer I know that sells EBMM is The Guitar Shop down in Lakeshore in Mississauga....

There's a few in the T.O. area including the 12th Fret, The Arts and a new dealer Club Bass as well as The Guitar Shop (who are also in Milton and Burlington now).

Man, it's a small world. I shop there, too. It's one of my go to places. Actually, I met 58Super (Dave) there and Fogman is getting his first Ball from there. Great shop. Just got a bunch of new balls in.

Yep, The 12th Fret is another very good store. It's another one of my go to places. Always have a nice selection of Balls as well. Never bought anything from The Arts, but took a trip up there and the guys I talked to were friendly and knowledgable on the EBMM line of products. Another place you can check out is MeanAx Music in Oshawa. Just became a Ball dealer. Purchased from them before, too. Guitars from another manufacturer, though. Jake's(LeftySS) family owns that shop. Cool folks.

Scott

Hey Adam,

Which L&M store has the Lava Pearl Silo. Do they still have it. Wouldn't mind checking it out.

Thanks,
Scott

Think I saw that one in the Keele and Steeles L&M but I don't recall seeing it there last time. They had a used AL honeyburst and an axis but priced a little too high to move.

L&M in Brampton has a used Axis Sport in transparent purple with p90's.

The Lava Pearl piezo Silo is at Keele and Steeles, and it's always behind the front counter. Also in stock is a mint condition but used 2005 LE Buttercream Silo... $1199.

Hey Adam
They were in stock as of when? Are they in stock now. Just asking cause Dave above doesn't remember seeing the Lava Pearl last time he was there. It's a bit of a trek for me to get there. So, I just wanted to make sure it's there before I head up.

P.S. The buttercream is tempting also.

Thanks,
Scott

They are both there as of yesterday. They certainly are tempting!

Ahh yes, they are very tempting. The lava pearl is a very cool colour. I think I'm going to take a trip up there today and take a look. No harm in that is there?

Thanks for the info,
Scott

Fortunately, a buddy of mine needed a ride home cause he was stuck in the East End. I didn't have enough time to get all the way out to L&M before it closed. I think he saved my bacon that afternoon. I know what you mean though. These guitars are like crack. Once you get a taste, it's hard to turn away. I'm actually going to still try and get out there, though. I haven't seen Lava Pearl in person. And I'm curious to see what it looks like up close.

You see, I find that interesting. I bought both my EBMMs at L&M at one of the stores that actually knew what they were talking about and knew the product. They had lots in stock and cared. Their after sales service was also excellent.

I was thankful that they picked up the EBMM line because I didn't want to shop at the other alternative at Queen st in T.O.. Not my favorite place to shop. Big time attitudes there.

It all depends which sales guy you talk to. Some know their stuff, others don't.

At the L&M Mississuaga there are two guys I know I can rely on. At other L&M's the guys in the bass department wouldn't know a flat round from ground round.
