I probably shouldn't say this but I am going to anyway.

Thanks for my Single H Bongo 5. I don't have to know about knobs and switches I can just play it and everyone thinks it sounds good.

Yes BP, you are right of course. At first glance it looked like everybody was attacking the poor guy. Checking older threads, I can see your point.
I guess it will be better to avoid replies to repeating posts than replying with a taste of sarcasm because it looks bad to my naked eye.
All's good :D

i didnt think that what i asked would become a big issue. it was just a question. ni never intended to offend anyone.
i was about to get the $$ but when i saw my limited edition stingray5. that was it. the wood and the pickups of my musicman stingray5 is dominating. thats why i chose it.
wish though that in the near future their minds will be open for changes. before there was only the musicman stingray4. thanks to ernieball we now have choices. that wasn't bad at all, ain't it? anyway. hers a pic of my stingray5, an a proud owner of it:

Have you still got the sticky plastic sheet on the pickguard? It looks awful.

Then take a better photo.

Yeah... the plastic looks bad. But if that's a bad photo, thanks for not burning me at the stake with the photo I posted a while back! Sheeesh. We're not all pro photographers.

I just wanted to comment on "missing the parallel sound" on the SR5 and Sterling HH and HS. If you miss it, why not just get the single H version? There's nothing suddenly wrong with the single H, is there? I did this just a few days ago. I had a natural SR4 on layaway. Suddenly a natural Sterling HS appeared in the store. The salesman was willing to apply the credit toward the Sterling if I so chose. This exact model of Sterling is one that I had really been gassing over and almost ordered online a few months ago. I was absolutely ready to do it right then and there, on the spot.

But... I took a deep breath, backed up for a moment, and let my ears decide. I must have spent 2 hours carefully comparing the two. I, too, love the parallel sound. As versatile as the Sterling HS was and as nice as it sounded... I hung it back up on the wall. I liked the sound of the Stingray's parallel electronics so much that it trumped the 5 wonderful sounds that the Sterling HS had. I bought the 'Ray. When I thought about which sound(s) was more important to me, the parallel sound won.

So... there is a cure for you if you miss the parallel sound. If you are like me, you'd use that sound 95% of the time even if it were avaliable on the SR5 or Sterling (HS or HH). So why not just go with the single H??? Problem solved.

Disclaimer: I never said that I'm not going to sell a kidney to go out and get that Sterling HS in addition to the 'Ray that I just got... and the 30th that I just got... and the Sub 5 that I just got. Got GAS? You don't know what GAS is unless you've been me for the past couple of months. :( But, then again :D

Hey Chris,

I know where you're coming from!!!! Just got a SR5 about 2 month ago, and am already gasing for a Sterling HS. The only reason I don't have it yet is because I'm hoping to hit some good after christmas deals. I just hope the sterling will sooth my sickness long enough for my wallet to recover!!!;) And then who knows......maybe a Bongo HH???

By the way Cliff, I got the single H version of your bass, trust me take off the plastic. You might scratch the pickguard, but MAN!!! it look soooo hot and sexy!!!!

Do it!!!!

I've still got the plastic on my 2006 LE Bongo's pickguard. Of course that's because the first thing I did was put on an EBMM supplied white pearl guard...

I haven't replied to your other two threads about basically the same question, but here's how I feel. The EBMM crew make great sounding (and looking, but we're not talking about that here) basses. They probably come up with ideas, build prototypes and maybe make some changes here and there before going into production. I really don't care what they do or how they get to that end result; it's that finished product that I can try out and see if it's the right bass for me. If series or parallel or blenders are right, then I'm sure they do it. If it wasn't the best result then they didn't use it. Same with body wood choice, etc. They've been doing this for a couple years now and I trust their judgement. Proof is in the basses that I play...

Like Tony Soprano says, "with all due respect...".

+10.

Read up on the development of new models. That's exactly how it works, by all accounts.

Naturally there is compromise, as BP noted re the availability of switches. But from what I gather, they don't stick something on there just because it seems like a good idea.

Why not just get a $$ if that's the setup you're looking for? If you're looking for an overpriced log with cheap plastic parts that break before leaving the store, definitely go for a W@rw!ck. I'll admit that they sound good, but so do Stingrays, Sterlings, and Bongos. The differences give us choices. This reminds me of the "The Bass Industry" thread. If manufacturers had never done their own thing and dared to be different, the instrument would never have progressed past the Precision Bass, or maybe even the acoustic upright. Let Hans and BP each do their own thing.
Peace

*ding* on all accounts. THe Just-A-Nut II's on warwick basses are rather brittle and the side adjusters tend to break if you arent careful during string changes. It gets annoying for sure.

Hans has one image, BP has another. let them throw out there what they want people to buy.
