Why did Pertucci switch from Ibanez to EBMM?

Gee, I don't know . . .Petrucci model . . . John Petrucci . . . :D

Same thing with the Steve Morse signature model.

That's why I sold my ibanez'. I had a one-off lefty Ibanez 7 string I sold because of the above :D

He left Ibanez because he was walking through the desert and trying to play along to some Hsnk Williams and couldn't get the sound. :D

Has nothing to do with being left handed.

I have an Axis and a JP(both basswood) and they both sound great. If the great ears of JP and EVH both prefer basswood for their tone, who really has any ground to argue with that. Eddie might be an arrogant ass, but his ear for tone and the tone he generates might be the best ever. JP has such an incredible array of tones on every album. I'd be happy to be able to reproduce even just a few of them.
 
If it was available, i'd have 10 of them :D

I am thinking of getting a JP7 though and swapping it around as a lefty. Not sure how well that'd be received though ;)
 
How you play makes you who you are. IMHO.

JP knows why he did what he did. I don't know the answer to that.

I do know he found the right guitar to play.

This way or another EBMM made him excellent guitar, so ergonomic, great sounding and looking great axe! In my opinion Ibanez guitars sucks, I don't like them mostly because if you want to find a good one you have to dig in the music stories and MAYBE you'll find good one. In EBMM case is a lot easier to find great guitar...you just have to find any of EBMM's guitars. Every single one is made with passion and great precision! That's why they are the best!

He was first musical score printer. He was Italian and he lived in 15th century. He's name was Ottaviano Petrucci and his main achievement was discovering the metal font forms so he could start printing music notes easly :D

Although, I have yet to see Patitucci play a bass that can switch into Ultimate World Domination Mode.
By the way, that's also the reason JP made the switch to EB. The Ibby just didn't kill enough people, and he kept melting the necks.
