Just read the forum rules out of boredom....

Noticed that the high E string slipped on the EVH and hence the width of the neck on the Axis at the upper frets was increased by 1/32" to stop this.

Why then does my Axis high E string slip like a muddy funster all the time. It is to say the least very annoying.....can anything be done to resolve it?

Bend up, not down. :)

There may be a need of adjustment somewhere, but with five screws holding that neck in place, it's not likely.

ok if the nut is ok - could it be that you are using a really light guage string?
Does it happen on any of your other guitars when you are playing the same piece with the same guage strings?
Do other people who play your guitar have the same problem?

Only had one guitar that did that on me (not a MM). Turned out that the neck wasn't perfectly straight, the high E was too close to the edge. The neck pocket fit was sloppy, so it was easily rememdied by pulling it over and retightening the screws.

I did see one new MM Sil Special which had this problem. It was returned and replaced.

Are the strings lined up evenly down the neck?

I definitely know what he's talking about. I've had times where I'm strumming really hard and the high E string gets hung around the neck pickup. That sucks, because it takes a second to even realize it.

The other thing was just having it slide off the side of the neck. Once I got used to playing these particular necks, that disappeared.

The edge of the frets seem to have been cut very shallow causing the high E to slip of easily when just fretting normally.......they almost fade away without a definite cut of if you understand.

The JP is fine, as its frets ( I compared them) are more vertical and have a definite edge to the board......doesn't happen on any of the other guitars either.

J Alexander .....you must just be lucky in life! Not understanding something doesn't mean it doesn't exist or happen to others! ;)

A few others have experienced this and it was a problem with the EVHs (See Forum rules) so I'm just wondering if there is a way to resolve it without havinf a full board re-fret...?

This is why guys like Dime and Vai usually had a piece of tape covering the neck pickup on the high E side. Works wonders.

The reason they do this is that the strings is unable to destroy the windings of the PUP.
The same reason EBMM put a little plastic on the treble side of the PUP under the tape;)

To further what Knox said......when you fret a note on the high e string, the string slips off the neck too easy (goes over the edge of the neck).

It slips because you're pulling down toward the floor a bit when you're fretting the high E. It takes a slight technique adjustment... you need to come straight down on that puppy. I've had my super sport for a little over a week and I'm slipping off less and less as I adapt...I also noticed that it's only my ring finger that does it. Stupid finger! :D
