I don't need two of the same bass, but that's essentially what I have. My wife asks me why I have 2 of the same bass, and I always say, "Why not?" 
Variety! If I'm in the mood to play my natural 'Ray, no problem. If I'm in the mood to play my honeyburst 'Ray, no problem. If money was no object, I'd most likely have several more SR4s, as well as SR5s, and maybe some Bongos & Sterlings.

I'm dead-serious about my playing...although I only have 4 Musicmans.
But I like to think professional big-time players are also serious about their playing, and they own multiples of the same bass.

It's not an ego trip here, as if I owe someone with your attitude an explanation.
It's that I love basses, basses are cool, and I am at a point in my life in which I can afford to have five or six if I want to.
And I do.
What else would you expect to hear? You go to a Fender forum and wow! Some people have five or six Fenders. Ever been around gun enthusiasts? People who collect little rhino statues? They don't stop at one, pal.
So even though I'm the Henry Kissinger of Bass and a moderator here and I try to keep my smart-ass mouthing off to a minimum, I guess I can be forgiven if I hope your "adios amigos" was for real.
