It is the limitation of existing switching and wiring. When we make the first position parrallel the remaining 4 positions dont sound as good as if we start with position one is series.

We are close to a solution and expect the new wiring/switch to make its debut in the SR5 20th Anniversary. From there we will make the new combo that starts with parrallel then series and then 3 other great combos

im so excited with the new sr5. i wonder if this is gona sound better than the existing. if it does i might buy one again :D

Well, from what I understand, and from the way I'm hearing it when I've compared them... the Stingray 4 HH is wired in parallel -- the rest (Sterling & SR5 HH & HS) in series.

But now after all of these discussions and questions, I'm beginning to wonder! I do, however, remember reading that here somewhere (I'm pretty sure) and it certainly sounded that way when I compared them in the store...

how is it possible that stingray4 hh&hs are parallel if big poppa mentioned this? if it is possible in a stingray4 hh&hs as you have said than why not possible in a stingray5 and sterling?

Notice the way BP worded that: he didn't say it couldn't be done, he just said that it sounded better when done in series (to me, it sounds better in parallel, but that's beside the point). I don't want to put words in anywone's mouths or answer for them, but I suspect that the reason that the Stingray 4 is wired in parallel and the SR5 and Sterling is wired series is so that, even though they thought it sounded better in series, they accomodated those of us who felt that the parallel sound is better with the traditional Stingray. That's just a guess, but seems reasonable since they ended up wiring them both ways, depending on the model.

It's already confusing enough (how many threads have discussed this???), so perhaps they didn't want to confuse the issue even more by offering each variation on all models.

Again, I DON"T KNOW, but that's just my guess and seems reasonable.
