Howdy, First post. Hopefully I did enough homework that this is not a complete bore-fest for everyone because it has already been covered dozens of times.

I own an Albert Lee MM90 (love this axe)

The only problem I have with it is I hit the five-way switch with my strumming hand all the time. I have even shaved down the switch selector blade at the top as well as the plastic tip to try and get it out of my way.... not much luck changing my strumming habits as this point as I am becoming an old fart and have always been a little sloppy with that hand anyway.

I was considering replacing the five-way switch with three high-quality micro-switches to individually turn the pickups on and off in any desired combination. Has anyone accomplished this or any other successful complete replacement of the switch?

I have the factory wiring diagram and a cursory understanding of the silent circuit... anyone have any brilliant ideas?

Anyone want to take a stab at a wiring diagram for this?

Other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

When I rewired my strat, I faced a similar dilemma. Not so much that the 5 way gets in the way of my hand as I just don't like it. So in addition to making it HSH, I used a Gibson style 3 way toggle to select pickups and a two way switch to both activate the single coil and split the humbuckers. So you get six positions - neck, both, and bridge, and also neck+middle, all three pickups, and middle+bridge. You don't get the middle pickup alone, but I never really used that position much anyway.

I can suggest that you switch pickguard and take the Piezo pickguard with 3 space for potentiometer

add at the third position a rotary switch à la PRS, this might work better for you because if the blade switch is your way no doubt the mini-switches will be as well.

Now you can always have a custom pickguard made for you and place the blade wherever you want
