fsmith said:Yeah, I just put it back together and tuned it up. I took the neck off yesterday and cleaned, re-oiled and waxed it. Sumbitch is ready to go now. I'm surprised at how hot the pickups are even after 11 years... I've been home sick all week so I've had time to play and fool around a little bit.
That's a cute story, she sounds like a wonderful girl...I'm going to try this approach with my wife...wait maybe I shouldn't, I don't think my wife knows how much these guitars are worthfsmith said:We were out at Hooter's (imagine that) a couple of weeks ago. They have a Guitar Center up the street so we stopped in after dinner and they had it there. I had noticed it a few months before and didn't expect it to be there still. I noodled around with it for a few minutes and she must have noticed the look in my eyes and the drool on my chin. I really didn't say too much, she always told me she pays attention... maybe she does.![]()
And the kicker was her trying to tell me how she explained it to the guys at the local GC. She didn't know her way back (geographically challenged) to the GC where the guitar was so she went to the one closer to us and had it shipped in.
She knows squat about guitars, but I love her anyway. I would have loved to have been there for the conversation, when she asked about the Van Halen, they kept thinking she meant the Yellow/Black Charvel and she's insisting that no, it's red, it's a Van Halen, with flames and "stuff" (birdseye) on the neck. I'm glad they finally figured it out.

Sorry Tommy, I did have to play it a little bit yesterday.I will get pics up real soon.
To top it off she even took me out to dinner last night at Hooter's... What can I say she loves the wings.Besides, hers are bigger than any we've seen at the 2 here in Baltimore.
Anyhow, I'm still on cloud nine today and loving life.
And Steve, you're right, I've been doing those things all along, no problem there, it works both ways.
later!!
