So far....im pretty impressed. Ive heard a lot of people raving about this bass, and they have done a good job with the volume levels active/passive etc. The only thing this one has is a tad low volume on the neck pup, but if I get that when I order one, Ill raise the pickup! The rest is even.

The amount of subtle changes you can make is nice. The E sounds huge, so Im betting a B string does.

I definitely like the neck, which as mentioned is the Sterling 4 H neck.

It isnt the same as a Ray, and I wouldnt expect it to be. Its more 'old school' as in less obviously in your face, but it still can be. Its like EBMMs progression from a P/J bass, to something thats totally different, yet does those old tones in a unique and MASSIVE way. The bridge pup output in passive is so much more controlled and pleasing than a MIA 7ender Jazz.

I think I can see a 4 H and 5 SSS in my sights. At first I was a little like 'oh, I want it to sound like a Stingray'....but I have 2 (and one more incoming) Rays so whats the point of that? Its different, its a progression, and its not in any way difficult to work out how to use it. I dont understand why people are worried about the extra buttons....it works well and the buttons are solid.

I can see them being fantastic for studio work when you want to nail lots of tones but give a very pleasing full signal and have a very well made bass.

At the moment, fingertyle sounds the best...its less in your face and more warm/old school, but slap with the bridge is so in your face its hard to ignore!

No problems slapping with those pups btw....

Yeah, you can love a Big Al 4 or SSS for sure. I was able to compare both modells today and they are equally great with the 5er benefitting from the mahogaany, beeing lighter than my alder 4 banger. Both are versatile as hell and have enough punch for everything I can imagine.

That said, the 25tr 5er has my favorite 5 string neck profile since we had one of those here too.

I am off to play the lottery....

I just had a few hours playing along to some tracks....this bass is awesome. The more you play with the controls, the more you learn. All buttons off 2 back pups in series sounds great, then hit the neck pup and take some treble off, and its sounds big, warm and fat.

Nice design....Im 99% sure this is for me!

Now I want a rosewood 5 SSS and rosewood 4 H.

I hear you. The more you play it, the better it sounds and feels. I found the neck a bit odd to get accustomed to as I played pbass and Jbass 5ers for years. But once I got adjusted it was amazing.

I'm sure you'll love the 5er.

We are searching for the lost 1%!

Haha, do not worry BP! My order is going ahead, and Im that impressed with the Big Al 4 SSS I demo'd, im ordering a Big Al 5 SSS and Big Al 4 H.

Rock n roll!

That 1% was just my normal indecisive self. I knew it was going to be one of the new creations from you guys, and now Ive sent the bass I loaned back, im missing it already!

My girlfriend also thought it looked cool as hell, so thats a winner.

Does she like blue?

Thanks for everything!

Your welcome! Very excited for the basses now. The wait will be more than worth it.

Blue? Hmm...not sure what she prefers! She did say the blue looked awesome though.

She has tried to get me to buy a red bass for a long time, but white and tobacco/sunburst are my all time favourites :)

The overall aesthetic of this bass is quite stunning! The combination of the rosewood fb with the black pg and the painted headstock is very nice. I normally don't like blue basses, but this one is quite good.

Indeed. Wouldn't have expected to work. That's a looker!
