Gibson L6S. Nice guitar, but it had a very thin and light body and a long, whippy 24 fret neck. I remember it had very poor balance hanging from a strap, and if you didn't stand perfectly still while playing it, that wet noodle neck would move and your chords would go sharp or flat. Sold it, bought a 1969 Gibson LP Custom used for $365. I played that LP for 20+years, kicked hell out of it, and sold it last year for over $2000. Sad to sell her, but I never played her anymore. I'm hooked on a certain guitar company that makes guitars that are lighter in weight, have unlacquered necks, and bridge pickups that aren't muddy....anyone care to make any guesses here?:)

I guess I was lucky - my first electric was a 1979 Fender Lead II, so I didn't have go through trying to make a Hondo II or some other similar instrument work.

I still have it, and I have a lot of sentimental attachment to it so I guess I'll never be 100% Fender-free - but she does rest in well-earned retirement.

Do you still have that Rivera Amp? - what's it like?

I know how you feel about that LP - I just can't bring myself to sell mine though.

Ibanez Roadstar II, which I promptly took completely apart & re-assembled much to the alarm of my parents. I've been at it ever since...

Spud - yes, I still have the Rivera. It's a nice grab-and-go amp for someone like me who is mostly a bedroom and occasional jam player. With only 25 watts and a 10" speaker it is a little boxy when you crank it up, but at lower volumes that isn't an issue.

I've been mostly a single coil/soapbar player for the last few years, so I've pretty much kept it set for clean without any breakup on the clean channel and moderate dirt on the gain channel. There is a boost feature, but I rarely use it. One issue with the Clubster series is the flexability - the boost on the gain channel is not footswitchable. They have a 2-button footswitch that selects the channel and turns the reverb off and on. If I was playing out, I would have gone with the Chubster 40-watt to have the footswitchable boost on both channels and an all-tube circuit. The Clubsters have hybrid pre-amps (one preamp tube for each channel) but all-tube power amp circuits.

Hope that helps.

This is not fair :p

I'm sure you are missing what we all faced with our low cost guitars

Noisy pickups, Buzz you can't get rid off, tremoundously high action, non reliable tuners, bleeding fingers :D
