Mine is an Ibanez RG550 Desert Sun Yellow. A very rare piece with a rosewood fingerboard (most 550s are maple). Ten years gone, paint is in fantastic condition, upgraded with a custom pearloid pickguard armed with Super 3 (bridge) and Pro Track (neck).

Still loving it! (Ibanez nowadays cant produced the same quality of the older days... )

(But the Y2D is gonna steal some time from her! :D :D )

Missed this one - busy all weekend.

My first guitar was a $100 (1981 dollars) Les Paul copy that looked like the cherry sunburst one Page played. I put a lot of upgrades in it. It was stolen so I bought a real one in 1990.

This is not fair :p

But it means I'm new to this and that my playing skills are about where many forumites' were 20 years ago.

I'm sure you are missing what we all faced with our low cost guitars

Noisy pickups, Buzz you can't get rid off, tremoundously high action, non reliable tuners, bleeding fingers :D

Huh? Are you saying not all guitars have the same quality as EBMM????

Ahhh
It was made by Kent. It was about 3/4th size and had a neck like a Louie Ville slugger! And the 1 single coil that was in the middle didnt work very well thru my parents stereo. Some of the tuners fell out so I decided that Id put 2 strings on 1 tuner (Hey I was 9! I didnt know better!) The frets stuckout pretty bad, and I cut myself often on them.

Man I love that guitar.

Mine was this:

I still have it... it doesn't have any brandname on it, it's a piece of sh*t, but it looks kinda cool... I got it from my sister's ex-boyfriend, when I was about twelve... It's hanging on the wall, together with all the other crappy guitars I've ever gotten for free from friends and family:

They are all bad guitars, but they all look cool in a weird way... I just keep 'm for sentimental reasons...

Mine was a cheap as dirt EBMM EVH copy... looked amazing, played bad and sounded worse - just the way a "first guitar" should ;)

Cheers

My first lectrik geetar was a 1976 Ibanez Les Paul Custom copy, white with all gold stuff on it. It was a BOAT ANCHOR!!! Permanently messed up my neck and left shoulder. I think it bent my left collarbone too.......

My first electric was a Harmony guitar from the 60's. Actually it looked a bit like the Albert Lee. It had one pickup and volume and tone pots. It was an odd looking pickup, not quite like a single coil.. or a humbucker.. or a P90.

The action was ridiculously high, but it did have a truss rod. Had I known anything at the time, I might have been able to make it more playable.
