Oh, and I love Mr. Mister! And yes, I realise that was a long time ago and no, I don't care!!! Great band, grossly underrated. Even managed to come across the original demo of their never-released "Pull" album. Fantastic stuff, shame the quality isn't there, but the songs would have been awesome and the guitar work from Trevor Rabin and Buzz Feitin is superb (Steve Farris left the band after the Go On album unfortunately).

John Mayer - Continuum

There I said it! My wife and kids listened to this friggin' album OVER AND OVER for the last month. Now I do the same. I am hooked!

I have no idea why I like it so much but it is a really good cd.

BTW, the man may play mainly bubblegum pop/rock (Dave Matthews musak according to a friend) but he is one hell of a guitarist IMO

I can't say I agree with 'Continuum' being anything bubblegum-like... especially when compared to his earlier albums which certainly DID fall into that category. I mean, he's been playing for over 2 years now with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan, and his maturity level shows in this album. I don't even consider it bubblegum, but to each their own. To me, it's his first 'serious' album, and a good one at that.

Hey guys! Sorry its been so long. I finished for this year and did the turkey hang back east with the in laws. happy holidays to ALL!

Yeah, guilty pleaures..haha *I* was Trey Anastasios guilty pleasure. A rather back handed compliment. I -( my band even worse) take SOoooo much Sh*t and have for almost 30 years. We are the "gay uncle" of rock n roll. Fun to dig and hang out with till one of your "cool" friends comes over. I have learnd to laugh it off as I am working makin $$ playin music. Some dig what I do, some hate it. At least I get a reaction. hahaha
In order to be IN this biz you must have a VERY thick skin. Internet lurkers are the worst as they are invisible and very mean sometimes. On the other hand there are really positve people as well. apples and oranges. Who gives a f*ck what OTHER people think anyway. if you dig the Cars, good on ya. they made some very good records. EWF is NOT a guilty pleasure as everyone digs them. Phillip Baily was at our gig in LA at the Wiltern. Oh..maybe someone saw him there?? HEeelp! hhaha ya dig!
Music is art and art is subjective!!!!!!!! Like beauty. Does the blind man think the girl across the room is ugly? I could go on. Dare to be yourselves and f*ck everyone that doesnt dig it. Thats whats wrong with the world. Too many followers and not enough leaders !! I mean if Elvis costello came out and said he LOVED Cherry Pie would you then think it was cool ?? hahaha I love a great pop song, a great Mahavishnu song and a great Motorhead song etc.. why not??? Be diverse. Its more fun.
Now, having said all that, there is music *I* think sucks but then again, thats MY opinion NOT the ultimate review.
OK, coffee has kicked in high gear. Must let the elephant outta the rear. hahaha
have a nice day y'all
Lucious

Lucious,

What a great post made me laugh so hard, 30 years, same length of time I have been taken it, trust me the love will always be there. Plus now I have a new love to add to it, a new Luke for Christmas!

Always a FAN.

Beagle:)

Add Luke's Santamental cd for icing on the eggnog.

Sometimes I find myself singing some Xuxa's tunes. Do you guys know her? She's a famous children's TV show host from Brazil. (Maybe I should edit/erase this post?) :)

I'm so uncool that I like that bassist for the Tyler Dow Bryant band.

Talk about late to the party. That'd be me. Now, that CoWpilot bassist takes the lunchbox for me!

The ones from my iPod I might turn down when pulling into a drive-thru are: Trevor Rabin-era Yes, Jon Anderson solo stuff, The Buggles, etc. I like all that stuff.

I like mostly everything, but still cannot fathom what exactly Snoop Dogg thinks he's talented at doing. I mean, the whole rap thing without half decent instrumentation sucks. (for me anyhow)....another pet hate is line dancing, but that's another story!

So yeah, as a Bassist who also plays Guitar, Keys, Trumpet, it's got to have mojo baby!

If you like weird, check out Penderecki! I dare anyone to write conventional notation to that! Hey Lucious, he even wrote 'St Luke Passion', although I don't see the resemblance to you! Hahaha....what with Eastern type communism as a theme! Hahaha

I get a lot of crap for liking Prince and Village people. Sometimes when I try to say Kirk Hammett has written some great solos, I get that "Kirk sucks you fanboy n00b!" kind of crap. Then there's the 80's europop.

I played the melody to Take on Me by Aha once on a 12string in guitar center and got some strange looks :D

Who gives a crap about what you or I like except you or I? Listen to what moves you, and **** everybody else. It's all about you and what you like, and who cares what others think?
