I think most people here love your sense of humour. I would think it's an important part of your creative genius. If you weren't being you, then you wouldn't be the musician that you are.

At first when I was reading this thread, tonnes of names of bands and singers that I can't stand were coming to mind. But then I realized I wasn't having an open mind.
We all have music in our posession that at one time for whatever reason meant something to us. Maybe it was the chorus, maybe a lyric, maybe it was the way the song was layered!? Sometimes we don't remember why we liked it in the first place! Oh well.
I've always loved listening to a broad range of music. Since coming to this forum, I've been introduced to even more. When I was younger I swore off to never listen to rap or country. I still can't stand rap, but just the other day I was looking for some vids of John Fogerty to get some more EBMM porn, and I came across a gig he did with Keith Urban on CMT. Now I find myself a Keith fan. Do I love country now? Probably not, but Mr. Urban kicks some serious a$s in my book and has a lot of talent to offer.
Yes I can say I don't like Abba, Nickelback, etc..... but it doesn't matter, because obviously a lot of people do.
At the same time, I comfortable enough to say that though freaky, Michael Jackson is or at one time is very talented.
So in closing, I say Whatever Floats Your Boat!!!!!
 
Just stumbled across two early Jean Michel-Jarre albums this morning that I'd forgotten I had.

Not sure how big he made it in the US but JMJ was huge here for a while in the 70's/80's with huge instrumental synth stuff, with like, one massive track per album!

Very dated but kinda great too!:cool:

I'm sure our French members will have strong opinions on JMJ?

Well, I'm not French (well, I've got some Alsatian bloodlines..) but I love JMJ's "Oxygene" album. It never sits in the CD pile too long without a listen. Brilliant stuff.. especially when you consider that it was 1976!

Oxygene is one of the two I found. I'm sure there's some funky name for this sort of stuff now like ambient new-age trance or something, but brilliant it is indeed!:D

I remember reading the list of synths on the sleeve notes years ago and wondering what it all meant. Still do now really!:D
