Greetings,

Total newbie here - new to the forum and new to EBMM instruments. I just acquired a wonderful 4-string StingRay, the serial number is 26220. Looking at the list over at musicmanbass.org, I'm guessing my new #1 was made in 1988. Am I on the right track?

Thanks a bundle! :)

Cliff,

I am very sorry for not finishing this investigation sooner. I started looking into this a while back, then got busy and kind of shelved it for a while.

Knowing that the first year we did matching headstocks was 2001, they still hadn't caught on to the degree they are at now. It wan't too hard to figure out when your bass was built based on the production date that was stamped on the body. This would be the date the body was sent to Finishing. The first StingRay 5 built after that date that was exactly like your bass was shipped to Carl's Music in Lexington, Kentucky, and the next one was sent to - you guessed it - Royal Music Center in Brooklyn, NY. These were the only two that would be in the right time frame to be built with that body that you now have.

So, my conclusion is that your correct serial number is E34915 and the correct build date is 1/8/03. The plates had to have been swapped at the store for reasons we will probably never know.

Hope that helps - and yes, your warranty is valid... so please rest peacefully in that assurance! ;)

And someone probably has a Trans Teal SR5 that has your serial number on it .... they will probably check in shortty.

Dan

Dan, no apology necessary. You guys at EB continue to amaze and impress me. I can't thank you enough for follwing through on this wacky situation. I'm a person who is as impressed with service as I am with product, and since the day I purchased my SR5 back in February, I've been equally impressed with both. Big Poppa should be proud.

Hello

I recently bought the bass of my dream. It's Stingray 30th Anniversary. Serial # is E55023. Could you please tell me the assembly date for this instrument. Not really sure I can safely unscrew the neck :)

Thank you very much in advance

Thanx a lot!

If you mean June 1st 2006 then it's weird, because it was already hanging in the store when I was here on my business trip in April-May. I walked in the store and fell in love with the first look. To those who don't beleive in true love - she was waiting for me in the store for more than a year while I was saving up, didn't eat and was stealing money from my gf's purse :) Yesterday when I walked in that same store she was still there, almost untouched. I signed all the papers, Guitar Center dealer-priest got us married, and we would live happily together forever after.

I bought new strings for her last night and undressed her, and then goes the adult content...

But Dan, if you ment the date to be read by european and it's really a January 6th 2006, then it all makes sense.

It would be cool if it was June 6, 2006 - the True and Evil Anny Ray that made me sleepless for a year.

No, I double and triple-checked - it was definitely June 1st 2006.. It was sent to Guitar Center's central warehouse. Did you buy it at a Guitar Center? Perhaps they sold the one you originally saw and put this one in its place.

Thanks Dan! Your database is 100% correct, the SR does indeed originate from Germany. (Well, I suppose it ORIGINATES from San Luis Obispo, but you know what I mean... my bass has seen more of the world than I have! )

Hi Dan,

I checked at the store and they said it was the only one Anny Ray they had. So that was the true love from the first sight, yeah, but I think I'm loosing my mind. Too many business trips!

Thanks a lot for searching the date

Yeah, just a follow-up on that - I searched the good 'ol database - the first 30 or so StingRay 20th Anniversary basses shipped - the very first ones shipped - on 5/23/06 to the GC main warehouse, probably arriving there at the end of that month. That means that the store arrival date would have been in early June for that first "wave". So perhaps your love affair began a little later than you thought. And, as stated, your bass was built on 6/8/06, putting your bass in the second shipment.

alas, love can disturb the time-space continuim - ;)

I just bought E53035 today. As much info as you have please!! Thanks. I am liking it a lot.
.

Robert, congratulations and welcome! Your new StingRay HS bass was completed on 6/27/06 and was sent to Boomer's Music in Wellington, Florida, where I presume you bought it. The finish is Translucent Teal, and has a solid maple neck, and white pearloid pickguard.

Nice!

Dan
