Hi, Dan.

A few weeks back, I got a really nice fretless off someone on here:

E57920 - Stingray 5 HH, Translucent Orange w/Matching headstock, unlined fretless pau ferro, black pearloid pickguard

What year is this bass?

Thanks!
This bass was built on 1/11/07 and was a special order shipped to Guitar Center in Dallas.

Nice find! ;)

Dan, if you have a chance to give me DOB info for:

MM Sterling 4H, F00025, 1998, velvet natural, rosewood, black pg
MM SR4H, E32238, 2002, blue pearl, maple, white pg

Thanks in advance.

Nice basses - #F00025 was completed on 2/27/98 and was shipped originally to Premier Music, how funny, just about a half a mile away from the factory here. The owner passed away and the store closed down years ago but I remember going there as a kid (just a few years ago) and drooling over the MM basses there at the time.

Your StingRay in Blue Pearl was built on 7/11/02 and was shipped to Avenue Guitars in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Okay, it's brand spanking new, but could I have it's birthday anyway please?
S/N E62300 (SR4 2-Band EQ, Blue Pearl, Rosewood Board)

Oh, and the body is quite light. What is the body wood?

SB, that's OK, this is thread for bragging rights! Your Stingray with a Southern Ash body was completed on 02/01/08 and was shipped to Club Bass in Toronto, Ontario.

Thanks, Dan! I've only lived in Cambria for ten years, so Premier Music was gone before I got to the area.

Wow, that's had bit of a trip. Born in SLO, went to Canada, and I just got it from a guy in Central Texas. Might've been somewhere else along the way...

06/01/2008 ??

Diego, really sorry man, I still am super behind on this thread and I will be gone all next week, so I apologize in advance (I expect Aziah or A.J. will answer queries in my absence). But I was going to get to yours next (really!) ;)

No, there are no special editions associated with any sort of serial numbers, at least not by design or intention. Often just the natural sequence of numbers will become associated with a limited run, but that's just luck of the draw. We're just not that sophisticated when it comes to serial numbers!

That stated, let's get to the meat: The StingRay in question is a Natural with a rosewood board completed on 6/01/08 and originally shipped to New Jersey Guitar & Bass Center in Edison, NJ.

Cheers, Dan

hello Dan...
The guy who was selling it to me told me that it was born in 1998. Than I decided to get the correct information here. You wrote 06/01/08. So I decided to take the neckplate off and saw that was born in 1998. I don´t remeber the month and day correctly, but 1998.

is there something wrong or you get the wrong information?

thanks ;))

Hi everybody,
It is my first post here, I write from Poland.
Just bought my used Stingray Piezo 4 strings. It is awesome bass, much punchier than fender jbass which I previously owned. The seller said that it is from 2002 but methinks that it is from 2005? Am I wrong? Numbers are: E45298, Anyone could say something more about my model?

my Stingray

I don't remember when I bought it, maybe in '95, which lead me to believe it is a '95. But I was told it could be a '93. Please help me get my story straight!!!

Back when it was BRAND NEW!!!

I had a fretless fraternal twin of it, in the 1st "live show" pic, you can see it lying next to my amp stack. I bought that one in about '96. I bought it in the same store, the two of them were hanging next to each other when I bought the fretted and I vowed to come back and buy the fretless.
I am sorry to say that I don't have the freltess anymore, I traded it for a brand new G&L L2500 in '97.

Hey guys, I am an Ernie Ball noob. Just got my first one, a SR5 about 5 days ago (a STEAL for $1000). Unique finish, never seen it before. Wondering when it was born I am assuming its a 1999 or 2000 model. The serial number is E19949. Details please? Thank you.

Hi Diego,

This was probably just a typo in Dan's post. I'm sure he meant to type 98, instead of 08. It does come up as being done in 1998 in our system

Thanks!

Aziah, tnx a lot!

Yeah that' right Final copy is importer that's on the sticker on the back of the body near serial number! I bought it in TMS music shop in Zagreb (dealer is my friend), but through account of my another friends music store , but that's only formality 'cause of domestic taxes etc. :D

So, my bass is actually 2008. model, that's no problem to me, it was hanging on the wall in the store with plastic cover over pick guard and get original case with original international package, keys, EB polishing cloth etc.! Everything is according the rules! ;)
