For people speculating about a possible 22fret shorter scale design, could be on the money.

Aside from options and the exclusion of Singlecoils, maybe hardtail, I don't think there is anything else that JP needs in his tone arsenal.

I would assume that the most tone shaped change would be a scale change. A 22 fretter to widen his tone arsenal, but with all the lovely wonders of a JP.

JP uses 24 frets too much to settle for 22.
I wouldn't bet on it...

I totally agree, but the tonal options from 24-22 are indeed different. He will still have his normal arsenal for 24 fret work, but maybe a 22 here and there. Who knows? Aside from changing woods, single coils, I don't see many other options that could change the instrument tonally.

I'm just saying, it's not totally out of the question. The neck pup on a shorter scale produces a much different

I thought the 8 string guess was very possible, seeing as DT is getting more and more metal everyday.

The 22 fret prototypes sent to him never even made it off the ground... I think only one ever got as far as having strings on it, if that. He wasn't keen on the idea at all. I would be VERY surprised if something as significant as a 10th anniversary guitar that is one of the most successfully selling guitars in MM history, is that radically different than the original.

Despite my dream guitar of sorts, I'll be surprised if the 10th is BFR shaped since it's not the BFR's 10th anniversary.

So my speculation part duex... LOL

Regular JP shape with BFR woods. Which, would be very interesting to compare side by side to see how the shape of the body affects tone.

8 strings do not mean "more metal"

True, BUT I haven't seen many youtube clips of people playing the Grateful Dead or Pink Floyd on an 8 string. The majority of people are playing extreme metal with them. I think that's why that comment was made.

All this speculation has me wondering. BP was extremely terse with his little teaser...all he really said was it's something totally different.

Different how, though?

Body/neck woods, scale length, pickups, etc. are all things which can be changed rather easily and I don't neccessarily consider "totally different."

I've had an idea in my head. Whether it's a possibility or not is totally up to JP, but it would be cool.

BFR style solid mahogany body, chambered, with a maple top, floating JP bridge w/piezo and a mahogany JP/BFR neck. It would have a more aggressive body contour, closer to the original JP. Available as 6, 7, or Baritone. Uses the "game changer" for pickup switching with the Crunch Lab/Liquifire as the pickups of choice. Color options would be the same as the BFR line.

OR switch out the BFR body for a modified 25th style body with rounded edges (no binding).

Ahhhhhhhhhhh....

I just thought, maybe the non-existant Bongo Guitar will be repackaged as a JP model!

I would definitely consider that something "totally different".

maybe itll be 8 singlecoils all lined up together with every possible combination of 2-at-a-time in series and parallel

...with a 128 position rotary knob

maybe it also has a road king chip inbuilt into the upper horn too

I doubt JP would like that unless he's changed his technique. I think it'll be 2H.

I agree -- just trying to stir up some conversation.

Honestly I doubt it will be too radical of a change. Probably stuff like chambering, game changer, new woods, slightly different shape, or any combination of the former. JP just changed pups so I doubt that'd be changed again.
