Fran, are drummers that hard to find?
On a freighter, somewhere in the middle of the ocean? Probably yes.
If you have a MacBook with you, why not just use GarageBand?

He's got some diesel engines that are banging out a beat. Probably louder than any drummer I've played with.

While i was still checking out some used drum computers on ebay to get rid of an old yamaha keyboard (which i only used because of it's drum computer) i saw your post here.
Just plugged the macbook into my bass amp this morning and let go... wow! Very nice sounding drum tracks in garage band. Perfect for practicing.
Thanks for sharing this tip!
Hallo Günter, Grusse aus Frankfurt!
I love practicing with Garage Band. Once you get a little practice with it... its a lot of fun to walk into the an Apple store, find one of the Mac Pro's hooked up to speakers and lay down a cool track, and walk away leaving it playing.(At least it impresses the Apple store geeks

Hallo Matt, schönen Gruß aus dem Raum Aachen
I must admit, that Garageband also impressed myself (this morning). It seems that it's difficult -using the built-in loops- to produce tracks that are worse than the stuff that's played on some radio stations. Looking forward to this evening when i can practice with Garageband for the first time
The last time i played with a real band is nearly 30 years ago... i restarted playing bass by the end of 2009. So i'm kind of hungry
Have a nice weekend.
