I was up to this point, a very keen newbie to this forum, and looking forward to buy my first music man, a reflex 5 fretless, but the post below, has put the fear of God in me. I don't want to become a member of a silly cult, something where I must only buy and like one brand of instruments to be respected. I hate fanboism with a passion. I own a double bass and a 60's Precision, previously a Pedulla fretless. I like MusicMan but that doesn't mean i don't like other brands, as there are many out there as good as your pocket can afford.

This thing below, is by far the most ridiculous bs I've ever read.

If this is how all of you think here, then I don't feel comfortable with it.

From dictionary.com:

1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology . a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
7. the members of such a religion or sect.
8. any system for treating human sickness that originated by a person usually claiming to have sole insight into the nature of disease, and that employs methods regarded as unorthodox or unscientific.
so,

worship (check)
rites/ceremonies (check)
veneration (check)
body of admirers (check)
object of devotion (check)
veneration of the same thing (check)
sacred symbols (definitely, check)
living outside "conventional society" (definitely, check)
charismatic leader (BP, check)
human sickness (checkerrooney)
unorthodox and unscientific (yep)

I'd say we're a cult.

+1

There are some hardcore EBMM fans here, but overall it's a pretty good mix. You have to take everything on these here interwebs with a grain of salt or you could be setting yourself up for a rough ride...not just here, but anywhere.

Is cool dude, I have fenders as does BP and I think Jack has one too (he may have sold it for a case of beer some beef jerky and a ten gallon hat) and plenty others beside.
I read the first two lines of that and moved on, I really hope he was just goofing around.

Dont worry, nothing wrong with having other basses! I have found EBMMs dominate my collection. Even if you just have 1 and 10 from other manufacturers, you are MORE than welcome here!

Just be careful....what happened to me was that I realised how well made EBMMs are, so I 'found' my bass manufacturer that works for me. I have a Fender P, and Id like a J, but they wont be as well built as my EBMMs, ever.

Hope you stick around. Nothing wrong with Warwicks, Fenders, Zons, Laklands, etc, just keep the threads and replies on topic about EBMM gear and all is well :)

I'm not deleting your account because there's a secret mind-control signal that emanates from the forum and causes you to sell your children and - no, hang on, I think we deleted the mind control during the last upgrade.

do him and mostly us a favor. delete him like he asked. if hes such an idiot that he cant figure out that we are all joking, (there really is no church building or sacrificial burnt offerrings), all he is gonna do is stir up trouble, maybe even turn sad emoticlown (anybody here wanna go thru that again??? i dont), when he clearly lacks a full set of chromosomes or gizzards something. show me where the button is... and ill push it. this guy is proof that we are saving far too many lives with seat belts in this country.... oh yeah, merry christmas.

I learned a new word. Fanboism.

Lets dissect that word.

Fan....To appreciate something. To actually like something. To show support for something you like. To identify with others that also share your positive feelings.

Boi...sort of a sexist bizarre addition to the fan word. Presumably added by a keyboard warrior expert on a site that he is a fan of to disparage another site where people share interest and passion in but one that the bedroom dwelling expert doesnt.

Ism.....i cant help you with that one

I am no longer a boy or boi. (Isnt boi like a teenage girl putting a heart over her 'i's' in cyndi or teri?) But I thank the powers upstairs eeveryday that my life is able and chocked full of passion and excitement....oh yeah and an ability to know when someone is having fun.

Tanner I challenge you to find a product song or sunny day where there isnt someone who loves it to an extreme.
I hope you find a vacuum that is full of people on your exact wavelength. In the meantime I will fill my days waiting keeping busy trying to tune a steel guitar whille sorting through those male enhancement emails and those texts from the guy in Nigeria that keeps patiently holding onto that 216,000,000.00 for me.

You know that you can just leave too. You dont have to chastise people in a good natured thread with a dramatic farewell. Or you can try sticking to reading threads that interest you and ignore the ones that you dont like.

Merry Christmas.

Geez, some people take things way too seriously! I have 6 Ernie Ball basses and two Fenders and can't remember the last time I played the Fenders. I guess I am a fanboy but there is nothing wrong with that and after all, isn't the purpose of this forum to chat with other fans of EBMM basses and enjoy each others company?
