This thing below, is by far the most ridiculous bs I've ever read.

Maybe he should re-read his post

I was up to this point, a very keen newbie to this forum, and looking forward to buy my first music man, a reflex 5 fretless, but the post below, has put the fear of God in me. I don't want to become a member of a silly cult, something where I must only buy and like one brand of instruments to be respected. I hate fanboism with a passion. I own a double bass and a 60's Precision, previously a Pedulla fretless. I like MusicMan but that doesn't mean i don't like other brands, as there are many out there as good as your pocket can afford.

This thing below, is by far the most ridiculous bs I've ever read.

If this is how all of you think here, then I don't feel comfortable with it.

Forum Owners please delete my account, Thanks but... No thanks

WOW...only took him 26 whole posts to realize he is from another planet :D

Hmmm, from same location as a certain other individual who will not be named!?!

Well, better late than never...bye, bye Tanny. Good luck.

Merry Christmas to all :)

As I set here Christmas morning waiting for my little ones to come downstairs (although they where up to late last night. I have recently come to the conclusion how much I really like “MusicMan style basses” in general I use that term because a couple I own are SBMM and a little over a year picked up 4 of them.
For a long time I was just a graphite guy and looked away from instruments like this and was just a graphite guy. I have come to really love them and I’m really into them now.
Wishing you folks the best.
Happy Holidays.

I learned a new word. Fanboism.

Presumably added by a keyboard warrior expert on a site that he is a fan of to disparage another site where people share interest and passion in but one that the bedroom dwelling expert doesnt.

Merry Christmas.

"Bedroom dwelling expert"; freakin poetry.
I do have some great memories with other basses that go back 35 years and I will never part with 3 out of the collection (there are plenty more that are just for fun and would be sold now for that right offer)
With that said, the only one that gets play is a SR.
I don't drink, but I do like me some Stingray mojo. Have some every day.

I guess the whole your tube comments and some of the forums where people can be so harsh and absolute...protected by the waves of the interweb and cheap wall board.

When the Fanboi comes up i think "No Sh't" Most rational people spend time where they are comfortable and where they are around people with like interests. Every site is a fanboi site. It is just a stupid characterization

I don't get the whole "fanboi" phenomenon, either. Is it just the "sour grapes" syndrome? What's wrong with celebrating something one likes very much? Maybe the ones who throw the "fanboi" term around with derision just don't get it. Why should they be unhappy about others who are happy? I like EBMM. I like Apple, too. Call me a "fanboi". I don't give a rip either way. Just leave me alone with my passions.

Have a nice day. :)

The thing I found the strangest, I am not ragging on a fellow forumite here, but to come to a product specific site and make a comment about "fanboism"

I prescribe you get some EBMM into you a bit quicker! Do I have P bass with a mirror like Phil yep, but I have a Ray to look and sound like me.

Merry christmas.

Wow...somebody drank the wrong kool aid I guess. I AM an EBMM fanboi and make no apologies for it. I am also a fan of Roger Sadowsky and Jimmy Coppolo. I do not currently own a bass built by either but I have owned multiple basses built by both and hope to again someday.

I was a Lakland fanboi for several years before I was told they could no longer meet my quality standards..??? WTF??? Promptly sold the other 6 Laklands I owned at the time and will likely never buy another. I had been looking to replace my 79 Ray since I lost her in a fire in 86 and after I bought the first one I realized THAT was the tone I had been trying to wring (unsuccessfully) from the other basses I had owned for the last several years.

Once I got the first one I rediscovered how well built and how great these instruments are. Before long I bought my second then third and so on. I currently have 3 with 2 on the way...As soon as the Reflex Gamechanger comes out I WILL get a 4 HH and a 5 HH. They could be the last instruments I NEED to buy...BUT I really want another Sadowsky someday!

I have the utmost respect for everyone here especially the Ball family and the fine folks who build these instruments and out of respect and in appreciation for this forum I will NOT engage in discussion over NON EBMM brands...period. Currently I only own and play EBMM instruments. I love the instruments and the process of making them. I identify with and respect the other people who play them and have found this forum to be a GREAT place to share my passion for the instruments I play. I love the Kool Aid and the people who make it and the other people who enjoy it.

Some of us like to have a good time and as a result sometimes there are threads that people take the wrong way. I for one am smart enough to tell when someone is serious and when they are not. If you can't tell the difference at least have the courtesy to give them the benefit of the doubt....or not...stay or go I will still be a fanboi and the rest of us will just ignore the posts we don't like. It is called etiquette...some have it and some don't but that is ok to as everyone is welcome here as long as they are respectful to everyone else. I hope you'll stay and enjoy the company...literally the EBMM company and the knuckleheads that call this place home...

Welcome!

Peace,

T

Thanks for mixing it right!

Well greetings! Thanks for making the greatest basses I have had the opportunity of owning, All I can say is I should have done this Music Man thing a long time ago but sometimes like many other things in life i.e. women, computers etc. you just have to go down a road (sometimes long and bumpy) you feel comfortable with until someone opens your eye's to a better deal. This year I have made two of the best decisions I have made in a long time, I could not be happier! I see a few items in my collection finding new homes (not all but a few) This EBMM Kool-Aid is good!
Gee what flavor should I try next? Am I a Fanboi now?
Hey if Steve Jobs happens to stop bye tell him thanks too!

I'm a bit late to this thread, and honestly I was a die hard Fender & G&L fella for a long while. I have a few Jazz basses, a P Bass, hell even a Hamer Cruise (2Tek) but none of them keep my attention like my Stingray HH. Ironically since I purchased my first Stingray, I haven't looked beyond anything M.M. I now own two Stingrays, and have my eye on a Stingray 5 Roasted neck at the local GC... I find myself having more fun on these bases, than my jazz's etc.
