Is it a realistic / plausible idea to finish the body's the same way the necks are done? The necks feels sublime... Couldn't the bodies too?

Simple answer is yes... but I think based on BP's comments it'll be a job you have to do yourself! I've done it but to a non EBMM hence no pics, but it is straightforward given enough time, paintstripper, oil & wax....

But your hands don't need to slide around the body.... So why would you? EBMM paint is some of the best I've ever seen so I'd say yes to a finish. :p

Natural wood looks great though :p
Its not really a big deal though, and BP says its a no go so there's no point discussing it anymore.

How about a technical question on the reverse headstock? I thought I read somewhere that the traditional 4/2 was better for tuning stability - as the G string is typically an issue on standard 3/3 guitars. Is this true? Would reversing the headstock be purely an aesthetics thing, or would there be technical implications?

Mike

I think 'reversing' the headstock would likely not cause any tuning issues. The one thing I really like about EB guitars is that they stay in tune so well. If you look at the headstock the strings are straight from the nut to the tuners. It would likely be the same on a '2+4' headstock. The 3 + 3 headstocks often have the strings turn at an angle from the nut to the tuner, and can thus result in tuning issues.

Guitars with 3 + 3 headstocks can be made ok by filing the nut properly to take that bend without going out of tune. But in my experience, even with the mod, the EBMMs stay in tune better than the 3+3 guitars.
