Everyone has an opinion for sure but sometimes its best to hold off the keyboard. Check it out and live with the idea for a bit then respond, especially if your not sure what you think......![]()
+1. The Stallion was the main reason to look forward to this year's NAMM show. so sad....
I don't jump in here often, but I read many posts and just have to say thanks to all of you who keep this forum focused, classy, informative, and friendly. It's amazing how reading a single post by a single forumite who makes an off-handed judgement (ie. The JP 13 sucks) can get us all so angry. But it IS infuriating. Why? Because EB/MM is a unique breed that has not lost its (or our) need for curiosity, exploration, and experimentation. I mean this. This is not just about music: it is about what we need in our lives. When one person (I'll refrain from using judgmental terms, even though I'd like to) makes such a brash comment about someone else's hard work, it sucks the air out of the project and the community.
BP, Petrucci, and everyone else involved on these instruments are trying to make themselves and US happy, excited, engaged, inspired. This is a gift. Even if we don't like what they come up with, I hope that we can learn to treat their endeavors with the respect they deserve. Since 2001 I have owned over 100 JP models. I'm not rich or a collector. I live like a pauper and spend every cent I make on guitars and gear (perhaps this is why I'm single). I only keep 2 or 3 at a time and then sell them, get new ones, etc. I do this because I love to see the different finishes, play the different neck and body materials, test the new tonal variations available, etc.
Despite our personal tastes, let's support great, well-meaning work. Bottom line, every single JP I have owned has inspired me to write new music. What more can I possibly ask for from a guitar company?
Bold statement, have you played it? Oh, wait..
I think it's a great idea to introduce the boost function to the JP, it seems just the right guitar for that.
Looking forward to the NAMM reports and pics! Especially interested in the Armada.
Are you kidding me? I have not played the JP13, but it's basically just like my other JP6's and JP7s. Pretty much like the JPXI that I own too. Do you really mean a new JP guitar is just a new color and different radius? That sucks. I don't think they should make new "models" all the time. A new color, sure.
Here is a man with vision or super powers...hasnt held it seen it played it....but can be this aggressive and rude. This is why there aren't more sneak peaks anymore.
I know teenagers who have saved all their money to being able to buy a JP signature model and are so proud when they finally get to have one of their own. And then a year later there's a new model introduced. I just think that is wrong. I know you guys are making tons of money that way, but for many of us that sucks.
The great thing about guitars is that it's not like a computer or iphone, as soon as the new model is released, it doesn't make the previous models obsolete!![]()
I agree. I think it's ok, but it is all about the $$$. People are talking about "the JP line is evolving" etc... That's bull****. JP's getting stuff handed to him. Tries it. Says yes or no. That's not really evolving if you ask me.
