RE: the Floyd Rose thing. I actually like both of them for different reasons at different times. I'd love to have another BFR with a Floyd for some things. There is just a different feel the the mechanism. I think that if Gotoh would get the piezo abilities that some other Floyd's have, I'd probably still prefer the Floyd to the JP trem. I'd still want some with the JP trem because it is nice when you only need to do some slow warbles for chording and not have to unlock stuff... but, I can also change a broken string on stage if it breaks at the saddle AND get tuned back up in like 15 seconds flat if I have tools near by. When you don't have a guitar tech, its funny that the more pain in the butt to set up Floyd system is actually a quicker string change when you're on your own. lol

In the end though, I wouldn't trade my non floyd JP BFR for any floyd equipped anything else. lol

Its funny because I was just goofing around for the first time with my JP12's trem as I want to brush up on my trem technique and I was amazed at how well it stays in tune with slight to moderatly heavy use (I am a tuning nut and like to stay in tune to the point of madness which is why I never bothered with the trem before). No dive bombs mind you but anything else I threw at it, it stayed in tune. I like to use the bar from behind so its out the way of my picking hand, when you do this you usually leave with a "pull up" motion that with a lot of other trems can make everything go sharp.....not on this.

I played Ibby's for decades and as a lot of poeple generally regard the edge and lo pro some of the best ever made - I have to challenge that with the JP trem. It may not do extreme bombs but on almost every other floyd, if you pull up your going to be sharp somewhere. I have been doing my own tech and setup for years and have spent more time at mastering it than my own playing and no matter what I could never get all of my strings back in tune with even the slightest pull ups. Plus the JP trem SOUNDS good and has better tone every day of the week.

There are mods and tweaks etc etc for floyds....but tonight I put the bar in my JP and played and didnt have to tune once....amazed....if they came out with a floyd for the JP's I would skip...this is better.

I SAW THE MAJESTY!!!

Yes, I did - not jivin'!!!

At the Sweetwater presentation last night, Sterling held up his cell phone with a pic of it to the crowd - he said it has been through something like 42 iterations thus far (and he didn't appear to be joking) - and then flashed a pic of it to the crowd.

Of course, nobody could see anything but a flash of waving cell phone - but it was really there! :D

What????????????????? EXPLAIN DETAILS, DETAILS!!!!

My post pretty well summarized it...

Big Poppa and JP were on stage and talking about how the Petrucci signature models guitars are designed/developed with the artist input (stuff like putting lotion on JPs arm, him playing guitar and then "where the lotion is on the body is where we need to scoop the wood to make it comfortable") - and how the JP guitars have been through several iterations.

BP then mentioned that a new model called "The Majesty" was in development and almost finished - and he'd show us a picture of it - held up his cell phone real fast and flashed it to the crowd. Keep in mind that he was standing on a stage and even the first row of the audience was seated several feet back.

So, what did I really learn about The Majesty? Absolutely nothing, but he did that just as a teaser - and it was funny.

I enjoyed his presentation VERY much. Got BP's signature on my JP6-BFR along with JP's.

So excited and now my pudding is gone again.......

I have my own thoughts on what it may be. I think it will be a fixed bridge or non trem type. Neck through with classic colors like MD and PRB and 25'5 scale....so a mix and mash of the Armaded and JP series....Just my thoughts but its always fun to speculate and see how far on and off you can be.......
