Wow! That was exyctly what I was looking to order, just with a non-matching headstock. For me it is the perfect Sterling 5H configuration! However, I stumbled over a beautiful Sterling 5 HH in Vinatge Sunburst/Maple board and could not resist to grab it. Will gig it on Saturday and Sunday. Can't wait.

Please show pictures as soon as it arrives.

I almost went with non-matching headstock, but my black Sterling 5H already has this. I thought it might look super sexy with the matching stock. I will definitely post pics, it's still likely 10 weeks away though. The waiting... :(

Back 2 Back outdoor gigs with Sterling coming up. Going wireless & can play with 5 position switch to make sure it sounds good out there like no other bass

I loved the tone of my Sterling, but did not get along well with the neck profile. I actually considered trying to put a Stingray neck onto the Sterling body, and even considered taking out the pickups and electronics and dumping them into a Stingray. In the meantime I accidentally fell in love with the tone of the Stingrays that I had at the time. I no longer have the Sterling—it was traded for my Classic Stingray.

Ok, have read all of the comments. I've previously moved to wide spacing (P or MM). But as I "age", a Sterling might be something to move into ,,,,,IF,,,,,,,, the fantom coil could produce a convincing jazz-bridge-jaco tone. So my question is: Is the fantom/single coil position really important to your sound? Or is it a seldom used novelty? The discontinued SB14 has a 3 position switch.

I already have a Stingray HH with a 5 position switch but, as you know, no single coil option.

Started shopping for my next sterling. Seems like the Sterling 5's have super limited options. HS is gone as are most finishes. Bummer. Might have to go used.

Can always wait for the next PDN to get a cool finish. But I hear you about the HS being gone on the 5's. If I were to get a Sterling 5 that would have been the one that I ordered.
